The boyfriend and I went to visit his parents this past saturday. They were back from their holidays in Spain and wanted to see us again, show all the pictures they took and discuss christmas plans.

We got there an hour later than originally planned. The table was set for "tea time". We drank tea, coffee and ate homemade waffles. Later in the evening we went to a Thai restaurant and there we ate a lot. The food was delicious.

I haven't checked my weight since we closed the distance, but I know I have gained some kilos. We eat a lot when we visit his parents and even if here at home we don't eat big amounts of food, there is always sweets and sometimes chips around. Mainly because the boyfriend loves them, but his metabolism is quite fast and he doesn't gain any weight at all. Lucky him.
I haven't been as active as I was in Colombia. The cold weather makes me lazy, I don't want to go jogging in the cold and the sun sets quite early around this time of the year. I swear I am sooo sleepy by 9:00PM.

Besides lots of food, we also got some presents from his parents. They got me a beautiful, soft and warm beige scarf and the SO a new leather wallet. We or actually the boyfriend, got back his four Grünhainichener Angels. His mom collects those little chubby angels and four of them belonged to Daniel. She gave them back to him, so that we can use them as part of our christmas decoration. Before leaving, we got Marzipan Ritter Sport and some gummy bears in individual bags.

We also got a white wooden lantern with a lila candle inside. They got that lantern as a present from a friend but since they have some already, they asked us if we wanted it. I said: why no? The boyfriend joked saying that he will take it back to their house once I go back to Colombia. Lol
I like the lantern and I was happy to take with us. The thing now is: where to place it? I think that type of lantern are mostly for outdoor settings or so. No? His parents have theirs outside or by the winter garden. Our apartment has a big balcony, but since it is so cold now, we don't hang out there any more. We also put away the table and the chairs the boyfriend has there. In short, the balcony is ready for winter, so there is no point in putting the lantern there.

I came with the idea of placing it in a corner of the kitchen's window. That corner is quite boring. In the rest of the window we have culinary plants and an orchid in some white and black pots we bought the other day.
The boyfriend has a kerosene lantern in that corner where I now put the new wooden lantern. He doesn't know about these changes because he is still at work and I did them some minutes ago.

I think the kerosene lantern can be placed on top of one of the kitchen's cabinets because there is enough space. I will ask the boyfriend if he is ok with it because I don't know if that kerosene lantern has a special meaning to him (he has some of his grandparents stuff and idk if that is one of them).
Since the candle inside the wooden lantern is lila and our orchid is also lila, I thought of changing the place of the orchid and putting it next to the wooden lantern. I kind of like the fact that there is the white, the green from the leaves and the color of both the candle and the flowers. It gives that corner a completely different look.

The boyfriend will probably complain because by doing that, I will somehow change the pattern we had with the pots. He bought 3 blacks and 3 whites with the idea of having 2 blacks 1 white in the middle in one window and in the other window 2 whites 1 black in the middle.
I don't think that's a big deal and in fact, I like the new way more because in the window where there are now 2 pots instead of 3, we also put the garlic and onions, so there is more room for that now. In general, from my point of view it looks better now.

What do you think? where would you normally place a wooden lantern like the one we got?
