Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the lights, the music, the food, the time with the family, the joy, etc.

My SO's mom keeps asking me if am I homesick, if is it too cold for me, etc. So far no, I haven't experience homesickness. Honestly what I miss the most when I am away from home is only my mother. I don't miss my friends, I don't miss the food, I don't miss the heat, my relatives, nothing. Sometimes I wonder what kind of insensitive individual am I Lol. I still don't know, but it has helped me get used faster to the new environment, not just here in Germany, but everywhere else where I have lived before, away from family and friends.

I wish my mother was spending this christmas with us, unfortunately it won't be like that. But I think it's sort of fair because last year my SO spent it with us in Colombia, so this year I will spend it here, with his family.

Our apartment is slowly starting to look christmasy. The boyfriend only had two Santas, so we have had to buy most stuff. We still need to get the ornaments for our christmas tree, thought. We haven't decided whether we make our own or buy them. There is still time. Most germans put their tree up on christmas day.

We got an advent wreath as a present from my SO's parents and it sits on the table in our living room. I worked on some decoration for our dining table and we have two christmas moose near the entrance. Then of course the two Santas the boyfriend had and the chubby angels we got from his mother. That's all :-)

Quite simple, comparing to how colombians decorate their houses for Christmas.
The boyfriend finds it bizarre, funny and weird to see winter like decorations in a place where the lowest temperature is 25 celsius degrees and a bunch of plastic trees. Anyways…

There are also many sweets in our apartment. Every time we go groceries shopping the boyfriend gets more and more with the excuse that it's christmas time. We also got cookie cutters and soon we will be busy baking cookies. I look forward to it.
In the meantime we have been eating and drinking homemade warm dishes, desserts and beverages to fight the cold days. For example pumpkin soup with blue cheese, bratapfel (baked apple) and hot apple cider. All of them very yummy. The boyfriend makes them and I have been learning. I better learn fast because he leaves a crazy kitchen when he is done cooking and since I am in charge of doing the dishes and cleaning… well, let's say is not always fun hehe.

To wrap up the christmas talk, just say that the town is even more charming now with its christmas market in the centre, little streets all lighted up, the smell of glühwein, crepes, chocolates, etc. All is great.

Today it's Saint Nicholas day. In Germany kids get sweets and other goodies, if they were good. If not they get a branch, stick or so. :-s
It was a sweet, literally, sweet surprise this morning when I walked to the kitchen. The boyfriend was already gone and this is what I found…

Isn't he the sweetest? I love my SO to pieces.
Also this week, Dec 3rd to be exact, was our month-aversary. It was quite late and he was not home yet. I sent him a text message but he didn't answer. Turns out he went to get me flowers after work. Another beautiful surprise. He definitely knows how to make me happy and to fall more and more in love.

I actually wanted to write more than just about christmas. There are many other things going on in general but I have to stop for today. The boyfriend is home and we want to watch a movie together. And drink mojitos, yes!
