When I packed my stuff to move to Germany and close the distance, I didn't think of the holidays or special occasions. I packed mostly jeans, sweaters, shirts and heavy jackets/coats. Nothing fancy, nice or new, really.

Christmas and New Years are just around the corner and it is now when I realize that I have nothing special to wear, that the only OK pair of shoes I brought with me doesn't match some outfits, etc. Money is tight on my side, so I have to choose wisely how and on what I spend it. Money is not tight on my SO, but I don't want to ask him to get me a special dress or outfit, it's just not me. I would feel weird.

I stared at my limited options and this is what I came with. Opinions on the outfit options will be much appreciated. Which one would be better for christmas and which one for NYE? Taking into account that christmas will be spent with my SO's parents and NYE with some of my SO's closest friends from when he was at University, which I will meet for the first time.

For Christmas I thought of wearing medium-brown boots, tights, a dark brown tube skirt, along with a drop waist white top made of soft lace fabric. The boyfriend finds the top too transparent and so do I, so I am thinking of buying a white basic top or tank top to wear underneath?

For NYE I have two options. Number 1 and the one I like the most is a short sleeves little black dress, tights, some nice accessories and I am thinking of buying new shoes because the ones I have really don't match it. I also tried wearing it with a long sleeves short jacket. I am not used to wearing such type of little jackets or jackets in general -I come from heat land!-. Which option do you think look better? with or without the jacket? shoes suggestions anyone?

Option number 2 for NYE can be seen on the picture with the christmas outfit. It's a sleeveless black dress with a white stripe around the middle. I honestly don't feel so comfortable on it. I don't like how the white part looks, like if it was a bit too big for me and when I put the little jacket on.. Ugh, I like it even less. Help!
