We got engaged in Hameln on December 24th, 2013!!! Some of you know Daniel and I have a Jar of surprises full of tickets with different activities to do together. All the tickets are white except of one. It was red and Daniel used to call it "the super ticket". I was always super curious about that red ticket and there were many the times I tried to get information about it. He never gave me a single hint and I was of course not allowed to choose it yet. It was the only one he was going to pick and give to me.

It was the morning of December 24th, 2013. He was working on his christmas presents and so was I. All of a sudden he came to where I was. He had the jar of surprises on his hands. He told me I was allowed the pick the red ticket. My heart started beating super fast, I was so excited and nervous. I picked it, got rid of the piece of string that wraps the tickets, opened it and it was an blank paper! there was nothing written on it. I was like: Ok yeah, that's quite a surprise huh? He laughed and told me I should put on my boots. I asked: why? are we going somewhere?. He said we were going to walk thru the city. I said ok.

We walked thru the whole city until we reached a pedestrian bridge with nice views to the river, the mountains and part of the town. We were at the middle of the bridge when he suddenly stopped. He handed me a beautiful small book. I wanted to open it but he told me I should first open the page where the bookmark was. When I was going to do it, he started to talk and explain what the book was about, since when he started to write on it, etc. His voice was shaking and all of a sudden he asked me to marry him! I said yes, then tears of happiness were rolling down my eyes while we hugged tightly. I remember being the happiest I've ever been.

This a picture of the pedestrian bridge. The picture was taken back in 2012, it's just to give you an idea.

The surprise was not over yet. He then gave me a padlock with our initials engraved on it and some flowers, because he knows I love flowers. It is absolutely beautiful and unique and the best of it is: he carefully engraved it all by himself. We bagged a free spot on the bridge, which was not easy, and left our beautiful padlock there, as token of our love.

Aren't they beautiful? He took this picture before the whole thing happened, because he was sure I was going to ask for one.

The book is a reproduction of an antique french binding and the cover suggests the fine moroccan leather that was revered by discerning bibliophiles, and the decorations mirror architectural trends of the time such as rosettes, spirals and stylized leaves. I love it, but I love the inside even more! Our story is written on it, with beautiful and artistic letters, amazing drawings that remind us of stories together. There are also our entrance tickets to movies, musicals, museums, both in Germany and Colombia. It was so much fun to read. It took me back to all the fantastic days together, our memories. I cried and laughed while reading it. It's now my treasure. I loved the way he proposed!

Of course I got a ring haha.

Our engagement celebration continued for two more days. His parents were the first to know because we had dinner with them that day. Then my mother and brother on the same day, his sister&Family, my father and then the Facebook friends. Also this past Dec 31st his close friends from his University years. I can't imagine how fun it will be to get married! We are aiming at getting married in August, 2014 in Colombia. Fingers crossed :-)
