Hi-dee-ho it's Hart here!

I'm still a bit of a newbie on the site, but so far everyone I've encountered seems to be super friendly and always willing to offer support and a friendly word. I love all the community support.
I'm still not really sure how this blog-post thinggy works, but I figure I'll jump right in and let things flow from there... Blogging from the Hart will probably end up being a bit of a journal series where I talk about daily life, relationship stuff, and friends/family (though all names will be changed to protect privacy) so if you like that kind of stuff, feel free to read on!

So, as you could probably tell from the title of this post, I've been thinking about meeting my SO's parents and the idea both thrills and intimidates me...

Granted, It looks like I won't really get the chance to do so until sometime during the summer, and while I'm excited by the idea of getting to see her, see where she grew up, and finally meet her family I'm also a wee bit worried about language barriers. Our relationship is interracial and Bunny's family all speak predominantly Spanish. Her father, brother, sisters and niece are all bilingual, but her mother is not. Of course, in the interest of being polite and trying to make a good impression, I've started learning Spanish as a new year's resolution...however, my proficiency is about equivalent to that of a 3rd grader.

I can write and understand reasonably well, but I have a great deal of trouble speaking Spanish fluently and keeping pace with conversation.

I'm so worried that I won't know enough by the time I go meet her family...and since this is the first time I'll be meeting them in person, I really want to make a good impression.
Luckily, I talked to Bunny about this last night and she was super supportive and loving as always. Sometimes her gentility absolutely blows me away. She always seems to know just what to say in order to help me feel about a billion times better.

With her by my side every step of the way I feel like I can accomplish anything, so hopefully all will go well in the end.

Anyways, that's what's been on my mind for today; I hope it didn't bore you too much. Thanks for sticking with me and being patient enough to read my silly rambles. If you liked/disliked this blog-post or have any tips or tricks for learning a new language, feel free to leave a comment below. I promise I'll read them and take them all into consideration.

May your day be as wonderful as you are <3
