A lot of men have issues seeing feminism as helpful because, well, when you grow up being used to having advantages due to being a man, it's weird and confusing to be told later "other people have it worse, please be considerate of that". Feminism is all about giving women the same advantages as men have them, but there are a lot of narratives that paint it as taking things away from the men to give them to the women. Change is scary, and especially men in power have an interest in keeping things the way they are. I really wish there was an easy fix for all this fear, because fear can quickly lead to agression, and the horrible ways some men treat women. Those "men have no souls" people are a tiny minority, thinking they are representative is the same as saying anti-vaxxers speak for all parents in the world. He's afraid, that's the problem.

I genuinely believe that ongoing efforts and dialogue can change things for the better. But it's a rocky road, and we all need to be considerate and openminded for that to happen. Kapwned puts is perfectly - Feminism is mainly for women, but men are included, and nobody gets anything taken from them. The focus just isn't on the privileged ones for once, and that's okay.

Bubblehits, I'm legit sorry your SO is struggling with issues. But he needs to recognize that "GURL POWER" isn't there to take anything away from him. Privilege doesn't mean you are immune to having issues, hell, the very issues the male-dominated society causes are affecting him too. Feminism is about making the way he is more accepted! But he's not going to make that better by lashing out at others trying to make things better for themselves. Bitterness is not going to solve anything. Instead of being spiteful, he should reach out to those who understand, because they exist, and he might very well find them in the very "GURL POWER" people he's taking issue with.

I'm with everyone on this. Feminism, especially as it's starting to shift now, is something that is trying to remove not only the issues we deal with as women, but the issues that men deal with because of it as well. I included a poem I really like on this idea of "man up." He pretty much says everything I want to.

What he was speaking about,probably,is more of "femi-nazi" kind of stuff,where people just shout about "women being given rights" and forgetting about men completely
There are so many people out there who are reasonable and do not judge others just based on gender.And also so many people so many tempers! He should just try finding those who are like him and who would listen to him instead of shaming.
