    I'm Getting Nervous

So over spring break, I went down to Houston for the third time. It was the first time I went knowing that it would be my home for the next two years, though. It was great! I'm excited for how much there is to do down there, and how much I liked campus, and about getting to know all the people I've met, and being closer to my SO.

Then I came home, back to Colorado. And I realized how homesick I'd been. Houston will be so radically different than where I've lived before. And everyone I've met are my SO's friends, who are a little different than the people I usually make close friends with. I mean, I know that once I'm down there I'll adjust, and I'll make my own friends...

But I'm nervous. And sad to be leaving a place I love. What if my SO and I break up? What if I hate it there?

Anyway, I know this is all normal concern. I'm just scared and could use some words of encouragement.

Everyone who closes the distance faces those same fears. What you need to decide is are the risks worth it? If they are, go in with all your heart. If nothing else, at least it will make a good story later.

Well, I am attending grad school in Houston starting in August. So I can't really back out.

You can go on and on with the "what if's". It's the "what ifs" that will make you crazy, though. If you focus too much on them, you won't meet new friends that are different than your SO's. You might not like it there if you focus on how it's not like Colorado. If you accept that it's different and embrace it, however, I can guarantee you won't completely hate it. (now, you'll probably hate the temperature... but that's why air conditioning will be your new best friend.) I have moved around so many times-and three of those times I moved for me. The first was to attend college in Indiana (I was literally the only one from my high school to go to that college), the 2nd was to Georgia after graduation, and the 3rd was to Texas with my company. Feel free to PM me if you have any concerns about moving/settling in to your new life.

Congratulations on going to grad school, by the way!
