We won't be closing the distance for quite some time yet but my SO has agreed for me to get a dog (will be german shepherd puppy) as I have grown up with them my whole life

Ah this thread makes me want a pet so badly!! What adorable pups and kitties!
We haven't got one yet, but plan to eventually... Unfortunately probably in 2-3 years rather than soon. I would do anything to have a puppy, but since I'm about to start my BSc, the timing isn't right. I also would really love to get a maine coon. My sister has a lovely one named Sally living in her house now, and she's the loveliest cat I've met. Too bad I'm allergic!!
I would love to have a bull terrier after subscribing to Rocky Ridge Refuge on facebook, but they're unfortunately classed as a pit bull so we could never fly with one
Love will not betray you, dismay or enslave you, it will set you free

Everyone's friends are so cute!!
My SO and I have been talking about our future pet for years now. We've both had dogs for a long period and would want to start a furry family of our own. unfortunately it's not possible at the moment...
We'll be getting a few fishies soon. This will be my housewarming gift to him once we move in

I'm a huuuge animal lover, seriously have a soft spot for any and all types of animals, I can't help it. My SO pretends to not be as much of a softy, but I know that if we got a pet (specifically a cat, he likes cats) that he would turn all soft and love it to bits too. We're not closed distance yet, we will be soon, but I don't think we'll get a pet 'til we've sorted a house, and probably not until we've done our travelling too.
I've always thought it would be really nice for kids to grow up with a family pet though, something to love and care for, and also a good way to learn responsibilities

I already had a bunny by the time we closed the distance, so she moved in with us. Her name is Duncan and she's a bit of a wench, but I love her anyway. I've had her about 5 years. She ADORES my SO because he gives her treats and doesn't have to do all the nasty stuff like groom her and clip her nails, which she hates.
We got a kitten about a month ago. My friend found a litter of 5 2 day old kittens in her barn. She ended up raising them and about 2 months later, we ended up with our calico terror, Zelda. She's 14 weeks old and is a playful little ball of fur.

Everyone's pets look completely adorable!! It makes me wish to have one even more! We haven't closed the distance yet but we definitely want a dog (he insists on a German shepherd) once we move in together <3 I really want a cat too, but he told me that will happen only if I find a way that it never grows up ;D Oh well, I guess he won't have another choice once I bring it home ..

We adopted a cute little terror from the humane society after being closed distance for 3 months. They had this BC/BD promotion where black kittens under 6 months were 'pick your price',so I went where they had the kittens and saw him laying there and I just couldn't resist. I had to have him <3. He's 2 months and 1 week old now. His name is Tempest which means a violent windy storm, and he's definitely like that. He's always running around getting into everything, playing with everything, making messes and flying through the house lol. But he's such a well mannered and easy going kitten though. He's my favorite little furry nightmare :P.
The day we got him:
He apparently likes my FMILs plant pot plate that's on her table and he got a new collar today :
He was kinda playing peek-a-boo lol:

We have not closed the distance yet, but we spend half our time together. He lost his beloved Cat a few days before I left this time and I have accepted my ex will be getting to keep my Dog and so we have decided that when I come back next time we are getting two kittens. I accept that I will miss them and him when I go but I still have access to my Dog when I have to be in states. I can't wait, he gets to pick one name and I get to pick the other. The idea of my big strapping SO having little kittens crawling all over him just makes me melt.

I have to say that it's tough getting a pet before closing the distance. I get to see our fuzzy nightmare on webcam, but I see her bonding with him and growing up and I get to miss all that... I hope she recognizes me when I visit in 3 days. So, here you are
too foreign for home
too foreign for here.
Never enough for both.

We're closing the distance next year, but we won't have a new pet for a while!
My man has a guinea pig and she just can't be with any other guinea pigs, she is very territorial and it would just not make sense to get another piggy just to bring it back because Heidi is too evil :P
But we do plan on getting a set of guinea pigs in the future, one for him and one for me
