I'm having loads of trouble when trying to apply for internships in the US. Does anybody here know anything about it? One of my main issues is that most companies want really specific degrees, eg. a marketing degree for a marketing firm, or a hospitality degree to intern in a hotel. I'm also worried that this is an issue for the J1 visa.
My other concern is that some companies seem to only accept students, or even students who can accept college credit for the internship.
I'm just so confused as internships in the US seem to be so much more complicated than here. The J1 visa also contains so many rules and exceptions and it's making my head all fuzzy! It's clear to me that they're being as strict as possible so that not many people will actually fulfill the requirments. But I really want to give this a go so that me and my SO can close the distance (at least for a while!)
Any help/advice would be appreciated!
