Sorry My cat ran over the Keybord of my Laptop and then the Laptop crashed down
I would take my favourite toothpaste because I know this toothpaste is not awailable everywhere in the world.
Additionally, I woul bring my cam, some photos of friends and fam and very, very important my beads with my beading tools.
I would definitly not bring my Laptop, because it will need loads of time until we can close te distance, so my Laptop will be very old then and not worth carrying with me. And I would not bring much cloths as I wiold go into a differend climate zone where I don´t need my winter cloths.
Hey I don´t think I would need shipping! Maybe the 20kg I am allowed to bring in a plane would be enough???
Ask me in some years!!!

I already left a comment on here saying that I would bring my DVDs. Well, I changed my mind. I don't want to pay for having them shipped all the way, so I'm making backups at the moment. I'm going to transfer all my movies and TV shows onto my external hard drive and only take that with me.Last edited by NaNi; September 24, 2011, 05:57 AM.

I actually don't really have much that I "need" to bring.
Things in Japan are the same quality as Denmark, but cheaper.
The food (incl. snacks) is better, so not brining any of that. XD
Think I'll bring things that have memories (like gifts from other's etc.)
I would like to bring my CDs, but if I want to bring them all with me at once, I would need a container. (I have 300-400 CDs)
I'm actually keeping myself from buying any sort of unnecessary things since I know that if I'm going to move to the other side of the world, I would have to leave a lot of stuff behind anyway.
So what would I bring?...
- My computer.
- My Danish stand-up DVDs (I love Danish stand-up, and it's not like I can buy those DVDs in Japan)
- My Books.
- Various small gifts.
- My collection of cell phone straps XD (well, I like my collection and want to continue it overseas)
- Lots of Bras, since getting my bra size in Japan is a pain XD
Actually think that is it.

A good but complicate question. I can understand this topic in 2 or even 3 different ways. The classical question what you can't live without and what I want to bring with me if I move to another country, and this last depends (I won't need the same for one-month trip than for really move for ever. So I will answer both things...
I can't live without:
- my SO
- my glasses (I really need them until I get surgery, I have a lot of myopia and astigmatism and I'm almost blind without)
- my family
- my vaccine
- a computer with Internet
- tweezers
- something for shave
- different hygienic products
- clothes
- food and drink
- scissors
- comb
- etc.
Actually I can live just with the first ones...
if I have to move abroad and live there for ever or most of my life I would bring with me...
- my glasses
- my gold crucifix (first communion gift)
- my silver watch (first communion gift)
- my silver spoon (baptism gift)
- some toys of my childhood
- some (very few) books
- a pendrive with all my photos, music and documents
- etc.
- In general so many things as I can for remember my country, house and family I would specially bring very typical products impossible to find abroad, old things and things with a special value for me
if I travel some weeks...
- Clothes (just the ones I will wear those days)
- Glasses
- Twezeers
- Comb
- Something for shavee
- Toothbrush
- A pendrive with my documents and things
- etc.Why am I always trying the impossible?

I would take my cat, my laptop, some clothes, photos of family and friends, some small gifts I've been given over the years, a few stuffed animals from my childhood,
a few small family heirlooms (mostly tiny trinkets and jewelry), a few of my very favorite books that were older/precious books given to me by special people (other books can be read on an e-reader), my mp3 player, and that would be it. Oh wait, I would take a giant tub of peanut butter and perhaps some Reese's cups to share with my Baby, because you can't get peanut butter in Russia. I would request that my parents mail me a new jar of peanut butter periodically. :P Other than those essentials, I could find everything else I'd need there.

I know this thread is like a year old, but I never saw it before so I thought I'd bring it up again..
I'm not very attached to my "stuff", so I'll just bring some clothes/shoes and jewelry, my phone/laptop/camera, some scuba gear and my roller skates! I guess everything else l could get there and I think it's annoying having to many things anyway.. I have skies/snowboard and such in my home country, but it's not like I'll need that in Brazil so I'll just store it at my parents house for now.

Good thread.
Besides the obvious like clothes, phone, laptop, CD's and books (the last two I'm actually in the process of moving, taking a few with me during my visits and leaving them at my SO's place), I'd take all of my gold jewels (I have quite a few of those, as is traditional for a woman here, and it's great to know that in case of financial issues I could sell them!) and a few items of sentimental values.
There are a couple of things that I really NEED to take with me that I don't think I could find in Finland. First is a provision of local traditional spice mix, as well as some sort of crushed dried wheat thing that I really need to make my favourite dish. It's very specific. Second is a copper mortar and pestle.I thought of you and the years and all the sadness fell away from me - Pink Floyd

My best friend moved to Norway two years ago (she's back now though) and her advice was to take all my belongings. She said if I leave stuff here, then Australia will never truly feel like home. I can definitely see the sense in that.
I won't be taking food or anything like that, but everything personal item I own I will be taking. Incidentally, I don't have a lot but I want to still feel like me when I move
