What are you getting your SO for Christmas?

I found this really cute idea on etsy and I'm sending him this keychain of a brass airplane and on one wing is a map of manchester (where the nearest airport to him is located) and on the other Columbus (nearest to me) and i got a necklace with the same pendant. I'm getting him more to go with it as well but I'm a little short on further ideas at the moment

That sounds like a great gift-idea for long-distance couples! Do you have a link for that?

My gift list has extended to a bunch of adult fun stuff for us both to use. Not really a gift to him but a gift to us!

And a taco bell giftcard because, while I hate the stuff, he eats it for lunch from time to time, so I know it'll be appreciated!

Not that he celebrates any Muslim holidays, or Turkish ones either, because he works CONSTANTLY in the fall when most of them are. But I learned on this trip that celebration of New Year is a big thing in Turkey! So maybe I can buy Christmas presents for my husband and something for my BF for New Year...

Muslims generally celebrate/exchange gifts during eid. Eid Al-fiter (end of ramadan) and eid al-adha. I doubt he'd be offended if you sent it, but muslims don't recognize Christmas as a serious holiday.

I ended up deciding to make him a pillow, I'm going to embroider it myself. I found out that there's a type of stitch called a fern stitch, and since my name is Fern, I'm gonna use it. ^_^ I'm going to put some fern stitch vines on the sides of the pillow, and one wrapped around a heart with our initials in the middle, and next to the heart the date we started going out, 8/31/13. I just have to save up enough money to ship it... I wonder how much that'll be...

No they don't. It's customary to give children money/toys/new clothes for Eid Al Fitr, but never adults. They exchange home-made pastries, though, but they steer clear of anything that might resemble Christian traditions. As for Eid Al Adha, they only give out meat from the slaughtered animal to the poor, needy and close relatives who for some reason didn't buy a sheep/goat/whatever to slaughter. That's about it.

Same here. I'm hemorrhaging money right now as I'm planning activities for the visit in a few days. My brother and his girlfriend are coming along and it's going to be awesome, but also freaking expensive! Ever since we've all grown up, nobody in my family frets about Christmas presents, the holiday shopping hysteria gets to us too much, and so we just give each other something symbolic. My brother and I have been giving money to charity in each other's name, it's a win-win deal.

But in my SO's family Christmas presents are a big deal, since they don't really celebrate birthdays. They give each other multiple presents - I have trouble coming up with just one! So I know he'd be a bit disappointed if I came up with just a card or something tiny. I was thinking of giving him a voucher for an experience gift - like rock climbing, or a flight simulator (although that's bloody expensive!)
