What are you getting your SO for Christmas?

I brought him a beanie (cause he always wears his chester one) and a mug with an owl (don't ask!) and i'm also getting him theatre tickets for when he comes down to London in January!

Finnaly decided on what to get my SO. He´s getting a book about making food for outdoor trips, as hiking, kayaking and stuff like that. Since we like doing those things together I am marking the pages with recipes I want us to try out. Also he is a Harry Potter and Star Wars fan, a hobby we share so getting him a sweater from etsy that is the best of both worlds and really wearable.

I don't know what to give or well to send my SO. He is going home from the Army to visit his girls. Which means I would have to before or after Christmas. I was going to mail a goody package of his favorite things. Lounge pants he loves, Star trek things, his favorite candy. Just a box full of things. I forgot his apartment number though, so asking for it again. He replies why are you going to send me something. He smiles and I tell him maybe, then he smiles again and tells me he never checks his mail. Hasn't since October, crazy I check mine everyday. Says only sales papers so what is the point. I probably have his apartment number wrote down somewhere. Would you send something, or just leave alone?

Added: a spice collection because he loves cooking but the only spices/herbs he has are granulated garlic and oregano.

My bf is playing golf, so I like to give him something connected to the game. I found an antique door stopper picturing golf player, hope he is gonna like it Then I bought him a T-shirt saying "Walter is coming", which is combination of his favorite series (Breaking Bad and GoT).

I think im going to get him some t's, a sweater and probably print pics of me that i will do just for him and write on the back of them. I also think i might plan a date night for the next time i see him.

I'm sure he will. But at same time I don't want to offend him or make him feel awkward. Not sure what I will do, maybe he is just embarrassed idk. I get that way when someone gives me something, it gets awkward. Not negative but just that awkward moment.

Muslims generally celebrate/exchange gifts during eid. Eid Al-fiter (end of ramadan) and eid al-adha. I doubt he'd be offended if you sent it, but muslims don't recognize Christmas as a serious holiday.

Yes I know but he works all through Eid/Sugerfeast and all the other Turkish "Bayrams", as does his friends/ workmates (in fact, they pretty much work MORE whenever everyone else has a holiday). I tried to check online and it said that Turks nowadays celebrate New year with exchanging at least small gifts, I saw it too when I was there this weekend that the shopping malls and hotels treat the coming New year like a kind of Christmas. I know that apart from doing some studying he will have time for New Year celebration, and that his friends probably will throw a party. But he is totally uninterested...or so he says. I really don't know what to do. I have thought maybe getting him a (not so pricy) calender with pictures of us and something small beside it, stuff I could have sendt him anyway. His birthday is in 2 1/2 monhts and I will celebrate that (possably in person if I can), so whatever gift ideas I have I can aim at getting him then. I really don't want to give him too many gifts/too expensive etc. because I fear he will feel inadequate (I am already paying for most things). He is SUCH a guy in wanting to pay for me or at least support himself, which is of course totally unrealistic in our situation since I cover most expenses, but I mean I will not try to add gasoline to the fire. I want him to get happy, not upset that he cannot afford to get me anything.

Why not send him something small you made, or even just a hand written letter that wouldn't really cost much? That might seem less intimidating for him?...

Yes that is the idea with the calender, that it will not cost that much + be a memory from our time together. I will write him a letter too (or rather, a card. I wrote him a poetic letter once and even though he really liked it, I think he struggles with the fact that I write better English than he does, because he feels he should be able to do the same for me). I may come out as judging but I think it is a bit strange/depressing that he is not more into the holidays. He told me he is willing to celebrate holidays with me, but realistically that can not happen in a long time. Even if New Year's Eve make him feel bad for some reason, I would want him to share that with me and not just be alone.
