New to LFAD but not to long distance

Hi everyone, I'm a 22 year old international student currently studying in Kansas, and my boyfriend is 25 and working in his home state of Texas.

This is my third long-distance relationship (I swore to myself I would never get into another one but here it is!) although this one has been a lot more manageable. The longest we have ever been apart is 1 month. Typically visits have been every two-three weeks, with three weeks being the norm most of the time, but the last couple of visits have only been two weeks (yay).

I know I am very lucky to be able to see him this often. My two previous relationship were not that easy. The first one, we would have to go six months to a year between visits, and the second one... I never actually got to meet him before moving to the United States for school (and my choice of university was so we'd close the distance. It didn't work out in the end but it's a great university so no regrets).

I've been part of other LD communities but this one seems very close-knit and friendly, so I'm excited to be a part of it

Funny story about my boyfriend and I: we don't actually have an anniversary date. It was so natural that we can't pinpoint the moment when we decided we'd be an item.
    So, here you are
    too foreign for home
    too foreign for here.
    Never enough for both.

my SO and I count our "anniversary" as the day that he first flew over to meet me, so technically he never "asked me to be his girlfriend" type thing. You surely count SOME date?

We really don't. We tell people we've been together "since around Thanksgiving" but we have no actual date that we consider our anniversary date. We talked about our feelings online, he visited me and things got very steamy but I told him I needed to figure out whether I could deal with another long distance relationship... Next thing I know it's two weeks later, I'm planning to visit him over Thanksgiving and he says he's excited that I'll get to meet his parents. Couldn't tell you how it happened :P

We just picked a date as we also had no defining "Let's be girlfriend/boyfriend" chat. We were sort of at that stage before meeting, but didn't want to commit to calling each other that until we HAD met.

Yeah, we had met a couple of times as friends before and that meeting that turned steamy was only supposed to be as friends as well. He keeps telling me that once we get married we'll have a date to use. I can't say I mind that

Yeah, Me and my SO are in the same boat as Kat. We were pretty much together about a month before we met - we just didn't want to decide on a relationship before we had met - but we were consciously not seeing other people for about 2 months before we met. It is VERY unclear as to what date in his first trip to me that we decided to commit to a relationship, that's why we chose the day he landed - we kissed that day so I think it kind of counts

By the way Ejoriah your nickname looks EXTREMELY familiar to me... do you use it for other websites.. another forum perhaps? :P...

Edit - just looked at the forum that I was suspecting to make sure I wasn't going crazy... I am ALMOST CERTAIN that you are infact who I am thinking of... HI!

Haha, yes, I recognized you by your picture I stopped posting over there because some of the posters are just plain mean, plus the LDR section is pretty dead nowadays with everyone having closed the distance, married and having babies!

yeah I thought you might notice that I have the same picture, it's the only one I could be bothered to resize to the forum requirements .

The way I found LFAD is because I was so disappointed with how dead it got over there in the LDR section, so I googled for new forums.. LFAD is awesome once you get to know the people, took me awhile to settle in after LY though.

Anyway, welcome! it's kind of weird to see someone join that I kind of 'knew' before hand
