    First time on here...

So I'm Nicole and I'm dating Adam, 24 who lives and works in Ohio, USA, whereas I, as of 3 days ago now live in Northern England. So we've gone from living together and spending every last second together to a distance of 3700 miles between us and 1-2 hour skype dates. It's hard and I don't think it's quite sunk in yet.

I arrived in Ohio last summer as part of my university's Biology exchange program and on Halloween 2009, I met Adam, and we've been inseparable ever since. We've dated for 9 months, and when it came to me coming back to England to finish my degree, neither of us had any intention of breaking up so here I am now, in a LDR, but I know for a fact he is worth the wait =) I plan on working my butt off this year and getting back to Ohio to to my phD, so we can be together again, as soon as possible! I know this year is going to be hard, but I can't help but feel optimistic about the future at the moment. I'm sure there will be many and emo moment for us both though. So now I have rambled on, I hope to meet some people who are going through the same situations and hopefully we can provide and recieve support from now on!

My boyfriend had to move to Ohio, causing our LDR But you've come to the right place! It's gonna be hard, not gonna lie, but you can do it with good communication, trust, and of course, LOVE. Best of luck and welcome to LFAD

Welcome to the forum! annamorgan's right it will be hard, but there are a lot of couples who started off just as you two did and are still going strong today. This place is perfect for getting advice, ideas for gifts or things you guys can do together in what time you have between classes or work or just general hectic life, and for sharing the good moments as well. Remember, the distance won't last forever and so long as you're both determined and communicate (HUGE deal with LDRs since words are pretty much all you've got) then you'll wake up one morning back with him again and be amazed how time flew.

Welcome to LFAD! The year will pass quickly. It might not seem like it from day to day, but like LadyMarchHare said, you'll look back once you're with him again and realize it did go quickly.

=) thanks and nice to meet you all! He just booked tickets to come see me after Christmas, so the prospect of being able to be with him to bring in the year in is keeping me going at the moment =) I'm sure once school starts up again, the time will pass quicker, right now I feel like I'm stuck in quicksand =/
