Hi everyone! After creeping around this page a few times, I decided to actually join the forum to be able to talk with others in "geographically unique" relationships and read everyone's stories and positive thoughts I think this is an awesome idea for a forum and am excited to have joined!
My boyfriend and I met on a Christian dating website in January of 2012 and have been officially together since Feb 2012. We Facebooked, texted, talked on the phone for about three weeks before our first date and the rest is history!! I am 23, he's 24, and he is the one Some people might roll their eyes when I mention how far apart we actually are...about 150 miles/a 2 and a half hour drive. I know I know, that's nothing compared to some, and I have so much respect for those who are conquering much longer distances, including international! Still, the fact remains that we are in two different parts of the state and due to work schedules, we have had to work out a schedule of seeing each other which regularly includes stretches of time apart. I'm not complaining...it could be much more time apart, and we have worked it out incredibly well for ourselves with no questions of "should we be doing this?" At all. I'm thankful and happy to say that we have a secure and thriving relationship, despite the doubts that some people may have about being with someone over two hours away from you. Not to say it hasn't been hard at times...that's why I love the idea of being able to post and read on this forum!!
It's funny because I guess we never totally defined ourselves as "long distance"...we just do what we've gotta do...but being able to come to places like this for support is really awesome for those nights when you just feel lonely even though you've been texting all day (which we've never gone a day without)
Looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing stories and support!
