    Hi

    Hi everyone,
My name is Maria and I thought i'd just introduce myself and not just be a lurker on this website.
I met my bf in November of 08, he's in the US Navy and shortly after he got stationed in Houston. We did the long distance thing for a while and then in May he got word that he would be deployed to Iraq. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, not being able to pick up the phone and call him whenever I felt like it. Thank God for our skype sessions that we had on Sundays and the many emails and IM's we communicated through for the 9 months he was there. He's back now safe and sound and I am currently making the move to Houston to be with him! All I need is to find job before I go :-).
Its hard not being with him, but I am surviving. Any body have any tips on how to not miss him so much?? LOL
I look forward to being a part of this supportive community and learning ways on how to cope...
    ~Maria

Welcome to the forum!!! It's hard not to miss my boyfriend, but I keep cute messages he sends me and look at them when I really miss him. Or I look at pictures of trips when we were with each other. Btw, my boyfriend lives in Texas too

Welcome to the forum! Goodness, you must have been a nervous wreck when he got deployed. My guy was in the military for a while, but it was before we dated even though we were friends.

As for missing him, try picking up some hobbies that keep your brain focused on the task at hand. You just want to be able to go some hours without feeling sad that he isn't there. The best hobbies would be ones where you learn to do certain things you can share with him such as origami, knitting, most crafts. So not only are you busy, you build up excitement in anticipation of showing him what you can do/what you've made for him.

Welcome. My Advice would be on the moving part, as I've just moved for my BF. He's also in the Navy. Just make sure you get things ready, and recheck and check again! It's not an easy move!

Thanks everyone. @Jomarie, how did you go about doing it? I'm trying to find a job before I move, I have had a couple of hits but none that have worked out so far. I'm gettung lottle discouraged . But I dont want to move without having some sort of job prospect at least. Did you find a job first or did you move and then looked for a job?

Not having a job is what is keeping my SO from moving here with me... I hope you find something ASAP and get to be with your man ♥
