Hi everyone! I'm from Southern, sunny California

Hey all! I'm Angela. I currently attend UC Riverside and am a newbie to this forum because my boyfriend left for Indonesia to teach English. I'm about to start my fourth and final year at UCR, and we've already agreed that I'll get my teaching certificate, a job abroad together, and we'll travel the world. The rest will be history. While I am very proud of him, the adjustments have proven disheartening.

Matthew and I met two years ago at a spring Orchestra and Choir concert. He was playing cello in the orchestra, and I was signing in the choir. We performed Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughn Williams. Such a beautiful piece, I digress. Us meeting happened kind of abruptly and not directly, but we ended up carpooling to the after party. Let me just say, it was love at first sight. But I had a boyfriend at the time, so I controlled myself (haha not for long though). We got to know each other pretty well over the summer. I broke up with the other dud and we decided to embark on our relationship before the next school year. We've been inseparable ever since. Up until this past August.

Leading up to his departure, I knew the separation was going to be difficult. And no matter how much I tried to mentally prepare myself, nothing really worked. I miss him very much. So now I am here; to share my thoughts about LDR, my SO, and to gain and give support to others in the same position. This is hard, but not impossible.

One thing's for sure, love knows no boundaries and no distance.

AH!! We're on opposite ends of the spectrum!!
If you don't mind me asking, I need a bit of help with sending packages to Jakarta. My SO said it's troublesome because sometimes things get stolen and then taxes have to be paid on everything. Any pointers on sending and receiving care packages?

                          Ah yes we are...!

Yep sending packages to Indonesia can be tricky, make sure you use international courrier service like FeDex or UPS, they may lil bit costly but they're save and have a transparent system so you can track your package online, if there is something trouble about your package, they will contact you so you're not gonna lose your package or having no information where the hell your package is (My SO use FeDex to send me stuff, it costs around 50 bucks!)

Please consider about the dimensional package, width, height, and length of your package can affect cost of shipping more than you think!

About receiving, I use JNE (one of local courrier service here, costs around 60 bucks for sending a package to VA, could be trusted enough, took 5 days for shipping)

The package itself, well, as long as I know-you can't ship fresh foods or meals, electronic devices not really recommended to ship, not anything liquids or something fragile (I left my glasses in US, they couldn't ship it here without so much paper works to fill, better buy a new one it's even cheaper than the shipping cost itself)

About the address, haha, Jakarta is very full and crowd town, I don't suggest you to send a package straight to your SO's house. Sometimes it's just hard to find. Better use your SO's working place address, besides, it will cost cheaper.

                          Good luck! ;D

                            Former SoCal girl here!

When we love, it isn't because the person's perfect, it's because we learn to see an imperfect person perfectly.

True love does not worry about the distance between, for the heart and soul travels through one's words

When two people are meant for each other, no time is too long, no distance is too far, and no one can ever tear them apart.

1 universe, 9 planets, 7 continents, 194 countries, 50 states and 10 provinces...and I had the privilege to meet you.
