    Hello from San Francisco

    Hi all

I just moved to San Francisco for a new job opportunity. I was miserable in my old one and this is a huge step up for me. Unfortunately, it means I had to re-enter an LDR

My boyfriend and I met in high school, although we didn't date each other until we were 23. We flirted long-distance for an entire year and then bit the bullet and entered an LDR. It was an amazing experience, and I was very happy that we were able to close the distance after only 6 months. I moved from Boston to Austin to be with him and we lived together happily for 7 months.

Then my career tore us apart yet again. It's difficult... having been in an LDR and then lived together in the same apartment, it's hard to go back to being separated. In addition, my boyfriend isn't very lovey-dovey and is more of the "strong and silent" type (whereas I'm a chatty Kathy). We will probably be apart for 5 years as I pursue this job + an MBA. Glad to have found this forum to help support us during this time!

Welcome to the forum. This is the greatest place for support during an LDR. I'm sorry you had to move again, but maybe it won't be 5 years. He could move to you during that time; you never know. Hope you find lots of encouragement here.

Welcome to LFAD Although 5 years may sound scary and like forever, you have to make the most of it. Visits and all possible kinds of activities done "together" definitely help to make time go faster. Good luck with everything

Hey Kathy! Everyone here share the same feeling as you, so it is okay to let us know how things are.

Secondly, I can imagine being away can be hard. The place you work should have a holiday allowance of course! Maybe during the summer, you guys can arrange to meet half way. Or you can visit him when you get the free time.
Thirdly, look on the bright side! It may seem your career has torn you apart, but then you can share more to him by Skype or calling him, as well as develop yourself.

I am sure there is a way out. Be positive And Welcome!
