Welcome to the forum. I'm one of the older ones, too, and it is nice to find love finally. I'm divorced which was hard, but I'd do it all again in order to find my SO. You are never too old for love.

For right now, we are in Croatia, but he has some been putting out some job apps in UK and Ireland so he will most likely be going there for some interviews. We will be going there and then back to NL in July, if none pan out.

I studied my Rosetta Stone for a year, but I still could not converse with a 3 year old if I tried but I can read my way well enough to get around a store for groceries. He is fluent in English better than most native speakers. LOL. Yes, this place rocks.

Hi Katy and welcome to LFAD community. I am not supposed to be active her as my SO decided to leave me for almost a month now. But the reason why I am still staying here is because I do learn a lot on this site and find new friends who were on the same boat as mine before.

Hope u will enjoy your stay here! Cheers!
Its hard growing up without a father, but its easy when you have a fantastic mother who plays both roles.

Thanks :-) I agree that you're never too old or shouldn't be, life is full of many possibilities :-)

It helps your man is fluent in English. Ironically, I also used to date a Dutch guy but we only met up a few times. I couldn't speak Dutch at all but his English was pretty good.

Thanks Purplette :-) I'm sorry to hear your relationship did not work out and I was just thinking the other day that it must be hard to just leave if a relationship does not work out as people can become attached to forums, chatting in a place and the friends/interactions there, I'd be the same and stick around on a forum I'd become a regular.

Hi, I am in Devon and he is in Illinois. We met online through a mutual love of dogs. We both have dogs of the same breed. We just hit it off as friends and chatted and discovered we had an incredible amount in common and are the same age. Over the years we gave each other support through really tough times we both went through and we became extremely close. Then we both realised we were head over heels....
He will visit here first. I have 2 young children and it's not appropriate for me to just bugger off across the Atlantic to see some guy I met on the internet. It's difficult at times, there's been issues on both sides, I have commitments, he suffered ill health last year that almost took his life. He's 90% recovered now but it's been a long road. We are planning his first visit for spring 2015 and then hopefully me going over summer 2015. Fingers crossed.
