    Not your conventional LDRer.

Hey there everyone! You guys can call me Sasch; it's not my real name, but it's what I generally prefer to go by. My girlfriend and I met each other through the wonderful world of the internets, and after getting to know her for a couple of months, we decided we wanted to be in a relationship. After four months of only being able to communicate through instant messaging and MySpace, I ended up moving to her city! There's a lot of big details in between, but anyways, we've been together for 32 months now (28 being non-LDR, though). However, some time next year I plan on moving back to my old city to find a good job and so I can get in-state tuition by the time I start college in 2013. This means that we'll be in an LDR again for a year (or in the worst case scenario, a year and a half) before she moves up to my city to live with me. It's gonna be tough, but we're extremely committed and know that this will work. So, yeah, hello other forum-goers!

Thanks everyone. We're committed enough that we plan on getting married somewhat soonish, so I certainly doubt that the distance will ruin our relationship, especially since we know how much time we have to be without each other.

                welcome to LFAD

you'll notice that the population here varries in shapes / size/ colors of LDR, you'll fit right in

my SO and I were also CD before we went LD, we were CD for over 4 years, and have been LD for a bit over 2. it sure does help to have a clear plan of how you are going to deal with things, but it helps even more being flexible and open to change in those plans...
best of luck to you both

Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again.
And meeting again, after moments or lifetime, is certain for those who are friends.

Welcome That's cool that you two met online and were able to meet in person so quickly, but I'm sure you'll be able to handle the distance again, and we're always here for support on this site
