    Christmas Gifts? Holiday Traditions?

I know that not everyone celebrates Christmas but for those who do...What have you bought/made for your SO for the holidays? I'm excited because my SO is beyond in love with the Green Bay Packers and has been craving a jersey for a very long time. So I ordered him an authentic jersey pretty much cost me an arm and a leg. *face palm* As well as a new "work watch" nothing too expensive but still classy for him to have around work. Both of these gifts just came in and I'm already so excited to give it to him I can hardly wait! I also think if I can scrounge up the money, I'm going to buy him a picture frame, and put a picture of myself and him in it, as well as ticket stubs, or memory pieces etc. As well as his favorite candy...chocolate almonds!

So my question to you guys is:

What are you going to get or make your SO for the holiday season?

and if you don't celebrate Christmas...

Tell me about what you do celebrate and the traditions you have!

I broke down and bought my SO the iPad2 64gb, 3G... it's all he has talked about for the last 3 months, and I was able to finance it for 12 months, so it's not going to kill me. But I'm pretty excited to give it to him

I made him a fleece blanket because his father is currently refusing to give him his favourite blankets, that have dogs on them, so I found some dog print and some complimentary fabric and made a blanket. I also am sending a lamb that I originally bought for me but that he'd have better use for; it has a "beanbag" inside that's lavendar scented (it should hopefully help him sleep) and you can heat it in the microwave (their heating's currently out and they're not sure when it will be fixed). I bought him three DVDs - Leap Year, We're Back, and How to Train Your Dragon - and got him some sticky slugs from my campus. I'll be sending a shirt I've been sleeping in, as well as a chocolate penguin and a penguin calendar, as they're his favourite animal. I'll be recording several stories (me reading them) and putting them as audio files onto a USB stick. I also am sending him a journal and some pencils with different wild animals on them. Am sending a moustache grower's guide also, as a gag gift. And I've included an ornament.

The reason there's so much is because it's more or less a combination of birthday (5 December), Christmas, and then a grief care package.

I ordered my SO a handmade leather belt, cut to his waist size, and a cool belt buckle to go with it. I also bought him a "gaming mouse" because he likes to play online role player games, and it was on sale on black friday. As a funny present, I bought him an "iron man" spatula (Yes you read that correctly :P ) He's just started to get into cooking and iron man 2 was the first film we went to see together as a couple (Iron man 1 also has some very fond memories associated with it :P ) I plan on getting some lingerie too as I will be with him on xmas day. None of my presents have arrived yet though!!!

I suck at shopping for gifts. :-/ Really stresses me out. I have one thing in mind for my girlfriend, and it's nothing spectacular, so I need to come up with something else. I was hoping to make her something cute and crafty, but it doesn't look like I'll have time. Kinda disappointing, since I had two different ideas (that never happens!).

Her present to me was to secretly buy me plane tickets so I can go spend Christmas with her. I can't really top that.

I'm still riding the whole "I gave him a baby" train... :P

I think our son is the big focus this year anyway, and it's especially exciting that he's well enough to be home for it!

I'm getting him a t-shirt that says, "No Kangaroos in Austria", which I find hilarious. I'm also looking for Calvin and Hobbes in German - it's his favorite comic, he's learning German and, well, I've spent this semester in German-speaking countries. And anything else little I stumble across. Maybe more Ritter Sport (amazing German chocolate), considering he's already gone through what I sent back with my mom.

I have no idea what I am going to get my SO yet. When my Dad and uncle were little they used to sleep backwards on Christmas eve so they could see out their windows better to try to see santa, even since I was little we've done it and so have my cousins. I will be passing on the tradition of sleeping backwards with my SO this year!

So far I got him a Nantucket Lacrosse pinny. We looked for one obsessively the week we were there and I finally found one!. I'm also going to buy him Grand Theft Auto: San ANdreas and Vice City and he's getting a pair of jeans whether he likes it or not! His have holes in the butt and crotch area and he really need another pair.

I'm going to make a scrapbook for my SO for Christmas. And it'll tell a story of us from the 1st date to most recent photos I'm so excited the photos I developed came yesterday so I can start working on it!! And I'm going to get him 2 books that he's mentioned he wanted to get (hopefully he won't beat me to it). I should come up with backup gifts just in case though..

Man after reading all the replies I feel like I'm really short-changing my SO... My SO has a birthday December 11, and then Christmas follows right after. I've sort of staggered his gifts. I got him an mp3 player (gave it to him in June because he was stealing mine!), a new pair of flip flops (just gave them to him last week) and I have one present left which is the Stephen Colbert book "I am America and so can you". I'm giving that to him on his birthday. And he won't be getting anything on Christmas. Well I'll bake some cookies He's so hard to buy for (the flip flops I gave him not two days earlier he was talking about how only douche bags wear them...) and I honestly don't like material gifts that much. I'd rather use the money I would have spent on a gift by going out to a really fancy dinner or a fun weekend trip.

My family sort of stopped giving gift-gifts when I was in high school, and started giving "things we need". Like my brother always gets lots of pasta and pasta sauce, since he's still a broke college student. This year my Christmas present was my mom running around to get my visa stuff done for me. I don't need or want things anymore.

Yeah, I have the same problem with birthdays being close to christmas. Its Christmas, our 3 year anniversary, his birthday, my birthday and valentines day all within about 2 months of each other, so we just celebrate everything at the beginning of the year. We usuall just go out for a meal to celebrate everything, give a small gift on our birthdays and an even smaller "im thinking of you" gift on valentines day (I got him a chocolate pizza last year XD lol).

I also generally just ask for stuff I need too, like new slippers and dressing gown (haha!). This year I have no clue what to ask for though, as I already bought everything I need and wanted... Also I'll be flying back to the USA for like 8 months after xmas so I need something that will last until I get back to UK to use it haha!
