How did you meet? Online? How?

I looked for a thread like this, and couldn't find one. So creating one as I'm curious.

    Did you meet Online?
And if so: What site was it? How did it happen?

For me, it was 4am, couldn't sleep, so I thought ide play some ghostbusters on the PS3.
Few games in, a girl joins my lobby, hears me quietly singing some song I had in my head, and asked if I was British with some excitement
Added me on facebook; and just last week, I returned back to the UK after spending a few weeks in America with her.

Was all very strange how we actually came to meet :P

Mine is kinda weird. My SO is an identical twin, and he had been a part of our church for a few years before I became a part of this church as well. He and his brother were altar servers at the time. We were freshmen in high school. Well, twins have the tendency of standing out sometimes :P So when I saw them walking towards the altar, I couldn't help but think "oh how cool, they're twins!" I saw them most Sunday's after this. I never spoke to either of them, but I always noticed them (as they are twins!) and kept their existence in the back of my mind.

Fast forward 4 years later, we were seniors in high school. Don't ask how I know this date because that's a story on its own, but it was May 2nd, 2008. I had joined that church's youth group and had been a member for only 3 weeks. On this one particular night, our youth group leaders decided to make us all go outside into the parking lot to play a game and write mothers day cards (I'm not sure why we did the cards outside, terrible lighting in the dark xD). Well, it was a big group of us there that night at youth group. Of course, I looked and saw one of the twins (my [future] SO!) and literally the first thought that came to me was "oh my gosh, it's one of the twin boys!!"

For some reason, he walked up to me that night. He introduced himself, asked for my name, and said he'd probably forget it (because he has a terrible memory). This conversation lasted maybe...30 seconds? He walked away and I thought "well...that was weird o.O." At the time, though, I didn't know which of the two was talking to me because I had never actually met them before!

They started attending youth group after that, and for some reason, the two of them started talking to me. It was actually my SO's brother who talked to me and added me on AIM as friends. Then he introduced me to his twin brother (the same guy who had walked up to me in that parking lot to introduce himself!) and we started talking a bit...then a bit more, and then a LOT. And then, (if you remember that I mentioned a date of when he first spoke to me, May 2nd, 2008) on May 2nd, 2009, we started dating! =D 3 years and counting

WOW that was long, it's a very long story xD I'm so sorry LOL.

We met at a friends house while he was visiting, I tured into a go between for him & a friend that didn't have a cell, so he'd text me .... we kept in contact after he went back home & one thing turned into another ....so we met in person before we started a relationship

Yeah we met online, on ShoutLife.com, around 2yrs ago. I just posted my story in the "LDR Stories" forum, here https://members.lovingfromadistance....h-waiting-for(
It's kinda long, so that's why I gave a link(: But yeah I was just turning 18 at the time, he's a year younger than me. We just instantly clicked and became best friends, and then realized almost a year later that we were in love, so we started dating. And now a year later, we're as happy as can be(:

We did meet online. It was on interpals.net. Basically, I was in a relationship that wasn't going well to say the least, and my best friend had just moved out of the country. I was bored and lonely. I thought if I talked to people from other countries it was safe as obviously nothing could come of it *cough.* I spent a couple days talking to random people, but tired of it quickly. I thought I'd go into the search and see if there was anyone worth chatting with, and if not I'd delete my account. Well, there he was. His profile was basically me but a male. It said he was in a relationship too, so again, I thought it was safe. From that first message I sent him, we've talked every day all day since. Turns out, he was in the same spot I was in relationship wise and we realized pretty quickly we wanted to be together. So now it's a year and four months later and we're going strong

          Met online: 1/30/11
          Met in person: 5/30/12
          Second visit: 9/12/12
          Closed the distance: 1/26/13!!!

We met online a popular help site for teens, where we were both way too intimidated to talk to one another for the longest time, though we would often respond on one another's threads, especially since we were there for similar reasons. I finally left a VM saying he could drop me a PM, I believe, and it went from there. We were close friends with unspoken, underlying feelings for ages, but I can't say had we spoken them any sooner, either one of us would have been ready for a relationship with each other, simply based on where we were at with other people. Luckily the cosmos seemed to line up, though. We met in 2009.

Those are very cute first meeting stories

I met my SO online in march, 2011. I was on the website myyearbook and I got this random friend request from this really cute guy. It was just something like "hey what's up?" lol. So we started taking every day about the most random stuff. News, laser tag, bands, whatever it was I enjoyed talking about it with him
He asked for my number and I gave it to him. We talked a few days and then started talking on xbox which was so awkward lol. We started skyping and talking on the phone often and fell in love that April.
We said we were going to wait to meet in person to be in a relationship. Lol we didn't. On June 1st 2011 he asked me to be his girlfriend and I of course said yes

Now we will be meeting for the first time in September after waiting for what feels like forever!

We met online On a chat site that was formerly Yahoo! Chat and now is primary a UK/Irish chat. He told me he'd see me chat on there from time to time but had confused me with someone else that he didn't like LOL He finally reached out to me on November 19, 2010 and we started chatting casually after that. I was SO not looking to get into a relationship...especially not with someone across the ocean. But well, love hits you when you least expect it. And man was this guy persistent. All ended up working out, needless to say, and we're getting married in less than 3 months!

We met in high school. We didn't actually start dating until we'd been best friends for about five years, and after we were both on separate continents for university, but such is life I suppose.

My boyfriend and I met online.

We met on a forum. There was a general chat thread there and we started talking within that thread. It got shut down and for whatever reason we started talking via IM. Instantly we were talking everyday, all day. We talked for I think two years before we met and the whole time I really liked him and had an unreasonable ecrush.

We met over a year ago and have been dating since. We closed the distance a month ago.

My SO and I went to school together, we sat on the same table in a few lessons and were occasionally put in the same group for things. Then I moved out of the country, and about 7 or 8 months after that we started talking, due to my best friend. Then we were talking for about 3 months every single day until he asked me to be his girlfriend
No time zone or distance or anything can keep us apart

I met my husband on a forum for penspinners called UPSB.
I started penspinning beginning of 2008, and I learned tutorials from my husband's youtube videos. It took me few months before I get to chat with him because he was like a celebrity and untouchable person... yeah in my eyes. It's not like I get to chat with any famous youtube ppl
Anyway, I tried to chat with him but I was very shy. Suddenly one day he asked me some random stuff. We started chatting from little to a lot, and we became a couple in August.

I met my SO online too, 4 years ago next month.

We met on a game on Facebook called Yoville. You create a little person and wonder around a really small and basic little town with loads of other people. You went to work to earn coins, they had a coffee car and a resturant, clothes shop, furniture and a nightclub.
It was mid morning and i was bored and hungover so i logged in, and wandered around before going into the nightclub. My SO was already in there being an ass and me being me i fully encouraged him. We clicked and stuff happened... lots of stuff happened and here we are now.
As long as there is air in my lungs... there is a chance

We met on an online dating site. It is called Plenty of fish. I would not recommend it to anyone. It's free and there are just a ton of crazies on there. But it worked for us. Anyway. I'd just gotten out of a relationship that took a while to get out of due to finances, and I was broke. So while I was kind of looking for a relationship, I was also kinda looking for dinner... But as soon as I read my SO's profile, I knew he was special. It said he was a broke grad student who didn't even have a couch, that he liked cats (important -- I had two at the time) and that he loved to snuggle. I'm sure it said other things, but those are the ones I really remember. My reply message was very short (which was hard -- I wanted to tell him he was my soul mate and to get his butt over to my house). I said I have a couch and two cats. We spent a couple weeks exchanging really long emails, then talked on the phone, then had a date, which ended three days later.

We lived an hour apart for six months, then moved in together just over a year ago. Now I'm moving away again for school.
