You two still have a lot of options to make this visit work. Can he email the assignments? Can he complete them early? Could you figure out a way to come over to him, and make it work? If this visit doesn't work out, there's always other times for visits. Have him talk to his professors and see what his options are on that end and try to work it out from there.

I had planned everything out, but then it all fell through. I was told I couldn't visit. The feeling sucks, for sure, but these things happen and him doing well in school is important for both of your futures. Maybe talk to him about the different options like everyone else above mentioned. Best wishes
