    Cold sore...blahhhh

So last weekend we weren't supposed to see each other but I managed to find a ride up and went to surprise him.

I am a chronic lip biter when I'm stressed and been biting one spot continously since things have been crazy lately. I guess I over traumatized my lip cause I woke up Sunday morning with the dreaded bump.

So no goodbye kisses.. It sucked.

When we got together just over a year ago, it was a super stressful time and I git 4 cold sores, which I gave to him unknowingly.. Then I caught them back again.

So when I got home Sunday night I started the ritual... Ice it, apply witch hazel, and polysporin, and then cover with a cold sore patch.. Repeat as much as possible.

He comes home Friday for the long weekend and idk.. I'm praying it speeds up somewhere here, cuz it was deep and I don't feel so optimistic right now.

What is it about these things that like to haunt us at the worst times?!

The day before he left the first time I got my girly friend, which was really cool since I don't even get that anymore since hormone iud

    Karma hates me. :/

I'm assuming that by cold sore, you're talking herpies 1. Unfortunatly, once you have that, you have it for life. And now he does too. Sucks
But the good news is, you can keep the outbreaks to a minimum by getting enough vitamins, and like you mentioned, keeping your stress levels down.
There are also lots of medicated creams on the market that you can use during an outbreak, and even just before an outbreak when you feel one coming on. There are also tablets you can take to speed up the healing. You don't need to suffer Go talk to your chemist.

Like Zephii said, if it's herpes, it's permanent. It's also not a big deal. I'd say it wouldn't be a good idea to kiss him anywhere else, but if he's already got it, too, go for those goodbye kisses. Stress causes all kinds of havoc in our bodies. Try to keep it to a minimum, and keep eating well and drinking enough water. Go to the drug store and get one of the creams. You'll be alright.

My entire family gets them regularly. It's just normal for us for as long as I can remember. What I do that seems to help more than creams is keep a nice layer of pepto bismol on the cold sore when I first notice it coming. Just take some on your finger and dab it on there. The peppermint in it is supposed to do something. I also make a point to suck on a peppermint candy when I get one on my tongue which happens from time to time.

Lol.. I know. I've had them all my life, and luckily gave it to him :/
I have zovirax, but unfortunately, most things work best at the tingle stage. Once it's a blister, I find the above protocol works best for dealing

I get them as well. Luckily I get them pretty rarely (although I got one a couple of days ago grrrr.) I don't use any cream as they tend to go away fairly quickly.

Also an active sore will cause an active sore on the other person do unfortunately just cause he has them already doesn't mean I get kisses

Oh yeah I get cold sores when I'm stressed, which is all the time lately. But I've been really lucky about not getting them when I'm with my SO. Last time I got one like the week after I was back home. Thank god! lol

I get them too. Right before my period, when i'm stressed or when I'm sick (with a cold lol). The inner mouth cold sores (which i get much much more) I will listerine to death. And I don't know why but they go away in a day or so. The lip ones, Abreva ftw.

Don't stress about having them, a good percent of the population have them and most are contracted as kids. The only prob is it turning into genital herpes, that's just super bad news. But as long as we are responsible with herpies 1 then the bad bad herpes isn't an issue.

                  You're here with me
Just show me this and I'll believe
                  I am beautiful with you"

I'm sooooo glad I've never had a cold sore nor chicken pox so the herpes virus isn't in me yet, jeez I'm lucky but cold sores aren't that bad just keep treating it and it'll go away in time. Oh but remember cold sores can spread to genital herpes so no going down on him (if you do that) same for you if he has one someday.

Ya, I'm over the embarrassment.. The percentage of people who don't have the virus is very small... There are even people who don't get the ulcers who are still positive.
                          I just hate the restrictions.

That being said, I woke up with it Sunday, too late for the abreva/zovirax stage, but started zapping it Sunday night and now, Tuesday night it is no longer painful, it hasn't spread (touch wood) and it seems to be closing up. I am very optimistic it will be a non issue by Friday.

haha yeah true but since everyone I hang around has already had it I'm really not at risk for catching it anymore at least until I have kids or whatnot

I don't know if this is a help to anyone, but I've also suffered from cold sores all my life (thanks mum). I get very stressed just before I take time off to visit my SO trying to make sure I'm on top of everything at work, and cold sores are inevitable. However, I use a combination of Zovirax cream (I think the actual name of the drug is Aciclovir) and a magical cold sore machine, and the sore is gone within a matter of days (as opposed to a week or two if the sore goes untreated). I highly recommend it:
