ok, so me and my bf, have been dating for 5 months, the entire time we've communicated through txt. Well, he moved out of his mom's house to get away from her and as a result, she took his insurance for his truck and is threatening to take his cell phone. He is living with his grandparents right now so he can finish HS, they don't have internet, and they only have have a landline so he can't make long distant calls. He has two jobs, but between trying to afford insurance and gas, he can't afford a new phone. We plan on ending the distance in May, but until then, how can we keep in touch without the internet or txt?

There are many places he could use the internet, such as at school and the library. You could email back and forth. Additionally, snail mail works really well.
If his mom pulls his cell phone, maybe his grandparents would be willing to contribute? Or he could get a part-time job to get his own? I'm just trying to think creatively here.

First off, was he paying for his car insurance? If so, what she did is illegal. Same with the phone.
Regular letters are cheap to send and like Silviar said there's always school and library computers. If you guys use AIM he could go on the site and use the Express where you get the IM service without having to download anything. I'm not sure in MSN or Yahoo have similar things. Would the grandparents be interested in getting at least DSL while he's there if he contributes a portion to the monthly bill? I know money's tight right now, but if they're merciful he could possibly just owe them a bit and pay them back when this whole thing with his mom settles.

There is no impossible my friend.
In 2008 I hit a really bad financial patch. I literally could not afford to feed myself, never mind internet or money to text my guy in Canada (I was in Australia). I was out of reach for three months. I thought he would forget me. He didn't. We wrote letterbooks, and regular letters when we just couldn't wait. I couldn't use the internet at school (weird restrictions on internet use) and I couldn't afford to do use it at the library. If we were to get online I'd have to text him from my sister's phone and use her internet - which would have been fine if she didn't live three hours away from me.
The point of me telling you my life story here is that if our relationship could survive, yours can too. You just have to have the dedication.Happily married to the little Canadian boy I never thought I'd meet in person

As everybody else mention snail mail, packages and even writing journals that describes what you have been doing would be a good thing to use. Also as stated before there is various places where he could find a computer to use so that you can send each other emails and IM if possible.
I hope that you find a way to make it work for the two of you =)

I agree with everyone else, snail mail is a good way to go, it gives you guys a lot of things to talk about but also something to look forward too because you never know when the next letter will be or what you could get with the letter like gifts, pictures, ect.

Hi.
It's sad going through this moments, but I think u don't need to brake up.... can't you call him to the landline his grandparents have??? Maybe not everyday, but at least once a week?? And send letters to each other through regular mail??
Save some money and buy calling cards....
