when to say i love you

To be honest you're being quite selfish here. It sounds like he may not be ready to say "I love you" again because he got hurt so badly. I had scars when my SO met me and all he had to do was be patient (he's the most patient person in the entire world) and I eventually opened up. I have a feeling this is all you need to do too. Saying "I Love You" is a heavy stage in a relationship. To me, "I Love You" means "I want to grow old with you". That is not something you want to rush.

Second this!!! I loved a guy and I told him and he broke my heart. After that it got extremely hard for me to say it again, that is why even my SO was the first one to say ILY to me. Also he says it much more often to me than I do, cause it is just something very serious for me. My advice to you? Be patient and donīt try to rush something or pressure your bf about it.

Also I agree with TaraMarie that I LOVE YOU and IīM IN LOVE WITH YOU are two different things.
