It's very easy to point the finger at her and say how foolish she's been but people can be very manipulative and they prey on the vulnerable. She's just been through a marriage breakdown and divorce which can be a very emotional time and she was very vulnerable as a result. The person to blame in all this is the guy not her, poor woman.

I see everyone else's point. It is unfair that this happened to her. I just don't understand how someone could give away tens of thousands of dollars to someone they've never met before without questioning the other person's intentions.
I hope she learns from her mistake and that this doesn't happen again!

What happened to her is horrible, but honestly, to send money of those amounts, heck of ANY amount, to someone she has never met, never spoken to, never skyped with, who was based in Nigeria? She didn't even have his phone number for goodness sake. She said the uk police can't help and gave her a really hard time about being so guilable. In this day and age it's so easy to research on the Internet, Google someone for instance. I find hard to feel sorry for her. She didn't deserve what happened to her but she was incredibly silly doing what she did.

You would think the Nigeria thing may have raised a red flag huh? I was gob smacked by her stupidity. Also, if he was high up the the US Army, surely he wouldn't need her money? She was dumb as a box of frogs to send money, especially as the only communication they'd ever had was via Facebook messenger!

I said to her, wow you were well and truly catfished... She says that the show has approached her about it so maybe you will see her on tv, who knows!

Reminds me of a Dr. Phil episode actually lol. People like her are very vulnerable for this kind of scam sad to say. Older women who are widowed/divorced are very desperate for love and that's who these guys target. It's sickening. My SO does ask for dirty pictures but so do I (lol) and we both compensate. He never asked me for money either.
