Just saw this. I'm so sorry. As if things aren't difficult enough atm!! We are all wishing for the best for your SO. I'm sure that your support is making it easier for her, in spite of the distance. You must be pulling your hair out, take care of yourself OhioJim. Have you had any further updates yet? Are you ok?

She says everything is good there and to not worry, but then turns around and says that she is afraid of what they are going to tell her. Of course I worry anyway.
I did ask her to give permission for the hospital to email me directly, but nothing yet. I also sent text and email to her relatives there and a neighbor asking it they were aware of the situation, but no response from any of them.
Yes, I guess I am ok, but it is hard keeping a positive attitude. I have been praying a lot and reading my Bible. Also asking anyone that will listen to also pray.
Sent her a text today saying that she can beat this and I believe in her. But don't know if she got it, since she was cut off right then. They really don't want her spending the energy messing with her laptop. She needs to rest.

After a bout of disparagement and discouragement today, I went for a walk in a local park. One of the things I am looking forward to doing with my SO.
It was cold and gloomy today. 26f/-3c degrees and breezy. I don't know how long the walk was since I forgot to start the app on my phone, but it felt good to get outside in the cold crisp air.
It didn't change anything but I felt better.

My SO texted me this morning and we had a nice long chat. Almost 2 hours.
She said she wasn't doing any better, but I could tell by the way she talked (by text) that she was feeling better.
I asked specifically what problems she was having, and she answered that it was mostly her lungs. So I guess the virus getting into her spinal cord is not a major concern.
If I count it right she has been in the hospital for 3 weeks now and has been infected for about 4 weeks. So with the treatment she is getting she should be turning around here soon.
She also told me what hospital she is in. It is St. Luke's Medical Center in Manila. That is one of the major hospitals in the Philippines. I can relax a little bit, knowing that she is not in one of the smaller regional hospitals (I have read some bad reports about them). St. Luke's is a good place, and I know they will take care of her.
Still no word on how much longer she would be there.

Had a text chat this morning (Friday 5 Feb here) with my SO. A half hour is all she could do. Remember she is in the hospital!
I guess she is pretty much over the Covid and now they are treating her for just the pneumonia.

An update....
I hadn't heard from my SO in 5 days and was getting worried. As usual, my engineer's brain started cooking up all sorts of possibilities, such as being in ICU on a ventilator.
But in my experience the simple answer is almost always the correct one.
Turns out that is what happened. She was finally able to message me today. They have been doing treatment for the covid pneumonia and ordered her to stay off her laptop so she could get appropriate rest. I guess she finally got them to allow a few minutes to send me an update.
She also said she is trying to find someone to lend their smartphone so we can actually talk to each other. (I don't understand why the microphone/video camera/speakers don't work on her laptop. Probably some setting somewhere in Windows 7.)

Another update....
I thought she was doing better. She thought she was doing better.
Then last night we had a short texting session, and she told me that she has started coughing up blood. Caused by the pneumonia.
This is not good, and is an indication of how severe the pneumonia was. It could take months for her to completely recover. I just pray that she can get well enough to travel back here.

My heart ached when I read what she texted me. I wish I could be there to hug her. She said that so long as she knew I was here for her and believed in her, then she would fight this and get over this mess.
I also just tried sending her flowers. A single rose with a note saying I believed in her. I hope she gets it. I know the hospital she is in but not the room number.
