I feel like I'm in a similar situation and that's what I keep telling myself.
I made a list of reasons why he was no good for me, and I go read it whenever I'm feeling hopeful as a reminder of all the pain he caused me.

Been there, done that. Not going back again. It sounds like you're making the right call. If you can trust him, there is no relationship. End of Story. I'm sorry you're going through this.
