Even though the start of my relationship has been LD throughout the entire relationship, I would have to say CD turned LD would be the hardest. Not only do you not get to be with them everyday like you used to, you have to get USED to it.
Me: I hope that pizza gets here soon. My stomach is growling.
    Growling at you.
    Grrr.

    Muffin: *pokes stomach* ^=^

    Me: *stomach growls*
I don't think it likes you very much.

    Muffin: *pokes stomach* Hehe

Me: You're provoking it as it growls more. I think it'll like you more if you give it pizza.

I started out CD with my SO and it turned into LD when he went away to college. I haven't been in a from-the-beginning-LDR but it was extremely hard going from CD to LD. We had only been together for six months at that time too, so our relationship was still a bit fresh.

I think that any LDR is difficult. I personally met my SO before our relationship became long distance, although we both knew from the get-go that it would happen. (I had been accepted to a graduate school in Massachusetts when I met her when I was living in Las Vegas.) I think in certain ways it has made somethings easier and some harder. I doubt that there is an advantage to one type of LDR versus another.

        My two cents.

In my personal experience we were not always LDR and it was really hard for there to be distance after we were together pretty much everyday for months. I guess it depends on the person though, I am sure it's hard to have always been long distance and I feel fortunate to have had as much close distance time as I did.

This is the only LDR I've ever experienced. I met him knowing that it was going to be a LDR because we were already in different states. I would imagine it's harder to start a relationship together and then be separated. You've already known what its like to be together all the time. You've enjoyed those simple little daily pleasure some of us would love to have. At least when you start long distance (like me), you are somewhat used to the idea of distance. You don't know what its like to have that person there all the time (although you want to).

well i've actually gone through both.. my ex and i were CD first, and then he left for the marines, and the relationship i'm in now has always been LD

i have to say that this one is harder for me, but i think the main reason is because i have much stronger feelings for eric then i did my ex

because if i hadn't been in both i would say that CD first would be harder, i'm not saying it wasn't hard.. but just from what i'm dealing with now, and knowing that eric is in fact the guy i want to spend the rest of my life with.. makes it that much harder
