Started dating in September 2008. First meeting in December 2009. Second meeting in September 2010.

So, just about 8 months between the first and second visit, and almost two months since I last saw him this year. Don't know when we'll see eachother again. :/

Yeah we are still long distance. I moved to be with him Sept 2009 and was there 6 days and my mom ended up in the CCU. Two days later she was taken off of life support and died. More here.

I came back home after that. It's Frank's turn to move now we decided. So he will come here and is trying to get a job here.

Longest I've been without my SO...well it was the entire time until the first visit so....about 1 year 4 months. Visits won't be that long anymore hopefully, but still it's about once a year...

and the next time i'll see my SO is in july or august, depending.
so by then, it'll be a full 12 - 13 months.

I last saw him in November 2006, on Trip #6. I had some vacation time deliberately booked following a software convention in a neighboring town. After a couple of nice dates during the convention, he took off to deal with his dying mother, and left me alone and sick in a hotel room with only American tv for company. (I rebooked my flight home.)

On trips #7 (July 2007) and #8 (July 2015), I could not see him or speak to him. I had gone both times for a cake decorating convention (my hobby), held in his city. His housemate intercepted my calls on #7, plus my mom was with me. For #8, I was alone and could not reach him by phone or email. I was tempted to just show up unannounced at his new apartment, but could not bring myself to do so. (There's a fine line between caring and harassment. Officially, one of the cats broke his phone.) When my mother didn't meet my distraught self at the airport as arranged, her excuse was "Oh I figured you were dead, that's why I didn't go."

I am hopeful for trips #9 (caregiver support, ideally NOW) and #10 (surgery, TBA). I've been looking at plane fares and found a hotel close by. being unemployed yet again, I have the time, not really the funds but can scrimp. What to do with my mother (I'm now her full-time caregiver, she refuses help from anyone else, and she can't travel) and his cats (5+, scared and maybe allergic) remains to be worked out.

Yes before you ask, he was aware beforehand of all my visits.

You all know what it's like to see your sweetie after only being apart a few weeks. You can imagine what kind of Hug Monster is living inside me.

Right now it's been 15 months. I'll see him in less than three weeks.

If I had ever been in his town or him here and we didn't get together - that would have been a huge red flag to me that something about our relationship was seriously wrong and needed to be addressed.

I will hardly win an award for patience in this crowd. Still; we have been used to seeing each other every month, so changing to seeing each other about every 4 mounths has been really hard, especially since we work opposite shifts. The upside of the wait is that we are bettering our finances by working and not spending money on each other. We both knew I could not visit every month forever. I also hope the longer time between visits can motivate him to move here - let's see how things works out.

If things go to plan i'll see her again in April next year, meaning we'll have been apart for 9 months by then. That's the longest we'll have been apart as it only took us 8 months of dating to meet
