I agree with the above responses. It's Kelsey's decision. I do agree with Blue Star though. I am in college and still depend on my parents for some financial help, so be certain Kelsey considers the consequences. But ultimately it is her decision. I do think you handled it very well though. I think her mom is just overwhelmed with her situation and the thought of her little girl traveling to CA alone is just another stressor. I wouldn't worry about it too much given everything going on. I also think it says something that she told you herself. She could have just flat out refused to allow Kelsy to go. But she told you she was not happy with her traveling and told you about her dad. That has to mean something right?!
