So much depends on the weather...

I'd like to punch mother nature in the throat right about now. My bf and I have had plans to visit each other for about 3 weeks now...just in time for the superbowl and Valentine's Day. I was supposed to be making the drive Saturday, but with all of the snow and ice covering the majority of Illinois right now, we've had to postpone our perfect visit until the roads are clear.

It's been 2 months since we've seen each other. This visit has been highly anticipated by both of us, and now we're both sorely disappointed.

Anyone else out there experiencing the same disdain for the weather right now?

      Yeah, that's really sad!
We haven't had problems with the weather so far, but another really annoying situation: As things works in her country, my SO only got notice of a 6-weeks holiday two days ahead... - at that time I had already scheduled my yearly military service of three weeks, plus she'd have needed more than a week to get a tourist visa, so we would only have seen each other for 1 or 2 weeks... - too little for all the hassle and the price of the journey, so we will have to wait for another 5 months until we see each other again after 9 months...

My SO was stuck here with me for a whole extra week because of weather last month! Maybe you'll have the same fortune once you get there.

@ Sarah: Thank you for your well-wishing!
@ ms3: I'm so sorry to hear about your missed opportunity to see your SO. I can't imagine going 9 months without seeing mine. I'm grateful that we're at least in the same country and only a 10-hour drive apart. May the next 5 months go by swiftly for you and your love!
@ Tabitha: I can only hope! LOL

My SO and I talked last night about the unfortunate situation we find ourselves in at the moment and he's planning on driving around and taking pictures of the local roads so he can send them to me to help me determine when it will be safe to make the journey. It's looking like we'll only have to wait another week, at the longest, which means that we'll at least still be able to spend V-Day together!

I'm slowly coming to accept that our visit will be postponed, but it still sucks when you've counted down the days to '2' and about 7 more suddenly get tacked on. Still, I'm very grateful that the countdown is in days, not months.

I'm sorry you are going through this, but at least you get to see him for V-day. I am taking a 10 hour road trip to see my SO in 3 weeks and I hope the weather is springlike by then. And, if not, I hope I get stuck there instead of stuck at home unable to see him. We'll see!

I hope the weather holds out for you, Micah...at least until you get there!

Oddly enough, mine will be a 10 hour road trip too! I take it you're about 600 miles away from your beau too?

I'm glad the two of you will get to see each other in time for Valentine's Day! I hope the awful weather doesn't hold out much longer.

Eheheh, apparently there are a lot of plans for V-day! That's so romantic!
I am supposed to leave from NYC on Feb 9 and come back on the 14. - 5 days to see my SO!!! It will be a 12 hours trip (bus + bus + plane 1+ plane 2+ taxi), but I'm so happy to do it! I REALLY hope that the weather doesn't get worse because I cannot imagine that they close the airport!
@Frekles: I wish you to be able to drive to your SO next weekend! Let us know!

Freckles - I am 670 miles away, but I drive across Nebraska, which is the land of nothing with no traffic to worry about, so sometimes I get there in 9ish hours.

                        Just a quick update...

The weather cleared up enough for me to make the trip! I made it to his place SAFELY last night. We were both extremely happy to finally see each other again. Now, if you all will excuse me...I have a very special man to spend some very precious time with!

Safe travels to everyone who's taking trips to see their SO for the romantic holiday!

That really does stink I know what you mean, this weather is ruining things for me too. My bf was supposed to come down this past weekend, but all this snow has kept him from coming Now I might have to wait even longer, and I haven't seen him in a pretty good time
