My SO is British, living in Hong Kong. I live in Finland, northern Europe, 4700 miles away. I'm currently studying at the university and would like to study in HK for a year or so in 2013 (sigh, seems so far away!). My SO has often told me that he could move here for me but I don't see that as an option now since he works as a pilot and can't be based in anywhere else before getting promoted in a few years. I seriously don't want him to quit his job for me. After graduating in 2015 (?) I could see myself living in Hong Kong for a few years. Later he could be based in London, Rome etc. but not in Finland so who knows where we'll find ourselves eventually. I don't worry about it too much yet but I agree with everyone else - it's good to talk about the options from early on.

He is living in China, but is an American Citizen. I live in Arizona, USA. He will be moving back to the United States after he is done with his position as a English Teacher. Only have to wait until July!sigpic

My SO is Costa Rican and I'm a USA passport holder. Original plans were for us to travel a while, then settle down in USA. But he has recently told me that he wants to live in Costa Rica now. Well, I'd be okay living there for a couple years, but maybe not forever. We'll see I guess!

My SO is in Beijing. I'm Chinese too, but moved here since I was little. Thankfully that means we communicate fine, but it complicates things for ever being close. He says he wants to move to America for better jobs, and I'm planning for more long term study at least IN China(if not Beijing), but we'll see!

My SO is in the US and I'll most likely be the one to move."Once the realization is accepted that even between the closest human beings infinite distances continue,
a wonderful living side by side can grow, if they succeed in loving the distance between them
which makes it possible for each to see the other whole against the sky."
- Rainer Maria Rilke
"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet,
regardless of time, place, or circumstance.
The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break."

My boy is in England, I'm in Canada. Right now were looking at being in England together because we both want to go back to uni and we even found an awesome program at this one uni in England that we both would love to study.. if everything goes smoothly, that will be starting in September 2012 and it would be 4 years of studying/living together and then if I can, we both might work in the UK for a few years and eventually move to Canada.. who knows.. we'd probably get married sometime after uni too.. so that would make it easier for us to get citizenship of each other's country as well as we'd both have a good degree. It's been so exciting to think about...like everyone else said, think about the options early and figure out what's best for you..

My SO is in Germany and I am in Barcelona (It did not start with us being in Europe though). Our relationship has been through many things and we actually have no specific plans at all. We take it day by day; however we know if we want to stay together, we'll eventually have to end the distance. I am willing to move to Germany once I am done with my Master here in Spain (Dec 2012), but since he still lives with his family, is a student just like me, is not financially independent and so on, I don't really know what is going to happen :-s. I do LOVE my boyfriend and our relationship, it breaks my heart when I think of what is going to happen once I am done with my Master and have to go back home (Colombia). Like I said, I am wiling to move wherever he is, learn the language (I started already), try to find a job, etc; In fact, Im trying to find a place to do my internship in Germany next year... But that is just me, I honestly don't know what is in his mind regarding the future of our relationship, and I don't want to put any pressure.. I do believe, what's meant to be will always find a way!

I'm British, he's American, and I am moving out there (government permitting!). He has a stable, well-payed job, whereas I'll be fresh out of Uni, so it just makes sense I move out there. I am happy to too, I loved living in America when I was there for the year. We're debating whether to go down the CR-1 or the K-1 route to get me there at the moment, to get my permanent residency, which will get me a 2-year green card until I can apply for a 10 year one. I think I want to have dual-citizenship, and our kids to have dual, but I don't understand much about that at the moment, so we'll have to go over that when we get to it.

I'm German and my boyfriend is Polish. Both our countries are in the EU and Germany is opening the labour market for East Europeans this May, so immigration is not really a big problem for us. If we find a job, we could just go and work in each other's country.
Right now we don't know where we're eventually going to live, though. I speak Polish fluently but my boyfriend's German is improving every day, so we could really live in either country. It all depends on where we'll be able to find good jobs.
I'd go for dual citizenship if we lived in Poland for a longer period of time (i.e. long enough for me to apply for it) and I definitely want our children to have dual citizenship.

it looks like we are all going to work in Germany ;-) Like Dzbiuka and LatinButterfly, I want to be with my SO too, and working in Germany (his home country) is an option. I'm visiting him in 2 week and I'll have a month to find a company that wants me to do an internship in Berlin, starting on February 2012. Fortunately I'm Italian, so I can take advantage of the fact of being a EU citizen. My German level at the moment is extremely low (like an A1 in the European reference) but I really want to learn it, and hopefully I will be able to do it there in the Spring semester, working and studying in Germany!!!

My S.O and I are currently discussing me moving to Wales to get my Masters and permanently living over there.
However, if he decides he wants to try to come to the US, I wouldn't complain
