Not to nitpick or make this partisan, but Barbara Boxer, a Democratic Senator, proposed a bill that would stop Congressional pay in the event of a shutdown and the Republicans voted that down for unclear reasons. The (public) reason for the Democrats not passing the bill to continue military pay during the shutdown was because the bill included another extension to negotiations and the president wanted the bill to be completed. I don't think we can blame either party in particular--they are both acting like children. Sorry, don't mean to offend in any way, but I'm a poli sci PhD student and felt the need to set the record straight that no party is being particularly more or less idiotic than another! Thankfully the crisis was averted!

Thank you, gr8shortandwise! I wholeheartedly agree with you! Although, I didn't exactly mean for this thread to get too political... I think it'll cause a lot of unnecessary drama...

          i completely agree with this!!
its so stupid that they're getting paid so much money, then taking so long to freaking agree on a budget.
they did agree on a budget last minute, for those who havent heard.
but all of this is ridiculous.
i dont even wanna get started on our government.
