I personally think it's always harder for the one left behind than the leaving, but everyone is different. What everyone else said is completely right! Everyone's cried before, it's nothing new, and you might get a few worried glances but they'll leave you well enough alone. People won't remember you in two days time so it doesn't matter what you're doing or look like.
Let yourself cry. It will just stay afloat in you until you get it out.
Best of luck. We'll all be here when you are finally home.

wow- its like I wrote this post myself! my bf and I met a few weeks ago too for the 1st time (I flew to meet him- 1st time flyer). I cried for 2 solid hours- from when I went thru security until 50 minutes into my 1st flight. I just couldn't stop crying no matter what. the little boy sitting next to me on the plane just looked at me. next visit he's coming up here and I know I will cry like this again. it's not the most pleasant thing but my getting so upset just tells me how much I really love him. I also cried a lot over the next 2 days. it's tough being apart but when you're in a LDR that's an aspect of your relationship you have to deal with. there's no way I'm telling him not to come up here to see me. I don't care if I cry for a week... and I probably will!
