I just received a phone call from my father. His fiancee, in the Philippines was set to visit him in July for their first meeting. They had been LD for about two years. Following that, it was time for them to file the K1 Visa. They had huge plans, and spent everyday on skype together. They were both very happy.
What my father told me on this phone call, is that she passed away this afternoon. She had advanced uterine cancer, and refused to let him know, so he wouldn't worry. -_- She was just 47 years old. She was adamant about him not finding out (she kept everything to herself, it's just who she was), and when she thought the end was near, she smashed her daughters cell phones so they couldn't call my father to tell him.
I almost feel anger at her for not letting him know. He would have been out there to say goodbye if only he was let in on this secret. Instead he gets the most awful shock of his life, out of nowhere, as he is excitedly planning their trip and counting down the days. If only they could have managed to meet.
So anyway I am posting this just to remind us all to love our SO a little bit harder, a little bit more, tonight, and every night. I know that he spent every moment of his day thinking about her, and loving her as hard as he could.
A very sad night.
