I was in a LD relationship for four years during college, and I can honestly say that I never felt held back. I had a better, more exciting college experience "despite" being in a long distance relationship than probably 99% of college students do. We were both completely faithful and committed to each other as well, and completely trusted each other. I never felt held back because my SO never held me back. I believe that is what made our relationship last.
It's a myth that you can't have a complete college experience while being in a LD relationship. It all depends on the two people involved. My only advice would be to not let yourself be held back.... you will regret it.
