Hello there,
I have been in a long-distance relationship for about 8 months now; and I could really use some advice on how to deal with the challenges that come with time zone differences and the emotional strain they bring.
My partner and I are in different parts of the world, which means there is about a 7 hour time difference between us. We have tried to establish a routine for when to call and video chat; but it is becoming increasingly difficult to stay in sync. Lately; I have been feeling disconnected, almost like we’re living two separate lives. Sometimes when I really need to talk; it is the middle of the night for them; and vice versa. I have also noticed that when we finally do get the chance to talk, I’m often exhausted from work or they are just starting their day; which makes it hard to be present and truly engage in the conversation.
Has anyone else experienced this; and if so; how did you handle it? What are some tips for making the most of the time you do have together? Are there any specific apps or tools that helped you manage the time difference better?
Also, I have gone through this post; https://members.lovingfromadistance.com/forum/loving-from-a-distance-mlops/long-distance-relationships/22837-feeling-lost which definitely helped me out a lot.
Also; how do you deal with the emotional toll of feeling disconnected for long periods of time? I love my partner; and I know they love me; but sometimes it feels like the distance is getting the best of us.
Thank you in advance for your help and assistance.
