International couples: How many of you started close distance?

Hi Guys,

I know there's a fairly recent thread about couples who started out CD and are now long distance but I just thought it would be interesting to see how many of the international couples started close distance and then for whatever reason have found themselves in a long distance relationship?

So anyone else but me?!?

Basically currently i'm an extremely lucky lady and my SO is about 2 miles from my house However soon enough he'll be heading to Singapore, where he works, for 18months. We've been together unofficially a bit over a year and officially a little bit under a year! We basically live and work (he's in the same office as me) together so I think were about as CD as you can get! Its be nice to hear of others who have managed the transition!

We met close distance while both living in Germany. He is from the Uk and I am from Canada.

We met while I was studying abroad in Costa Rica. Now we both live here

My partner is South African, we met whilst he was living and working in the UK in 2007, in 2009 we moved in together. In July last year he was arrested and removed from the UK because his visa had run out and he had overstayed his welcome. we have been long distance since then

We met when I was visiting his his best friend (AKA MY best friend´s cousin) in his home town of Cuernavaca, of México. However, we didn´t actually start dating for 3 more months, which was LDR at that time.

We met through mutual friends and started "dating" in January, he lives in Scandanavia (keeping details semi fuzzy in case he finds this somehow and teases me about it) and we plan on me moving/us getting married when I graduate school in two years.

We were friends for quite while cd before we started dating. When things got serious he moved I lived with him for almost 3 months so I guess you could say we started cd. I'm Germany and he is from the US.

We met and were CD for 2 weeks on my Christmas break. Then LD as I was in school 4 hours away. CD again for exactly a month. Now I am in China for 2 years

I´m CD right now, but I´m moving to USA for a year, and my boyfriend stays in Sweden. So we have been together for about eight months when I´m leaving and have been CD all the time, but now in July we´ll be LD
