What my SO and I have done in the past, if we are flying together, is that if I'm going over to the uk and then we're flying back together, for example. I would book my flight to the uk as a single separately and then the flight from the uk to Sweden we would book for the both of us at the same time. If that makes sense?
This works well and then you know that when you check in, you'll be say together. I'm not sure about your airline, but with mine, it doesn't work out any more expensive - maybe by a few pounds, but not too much to make it completely out of the question
No time zone or distance or anything can keep us apart

Thanks for the additional replies, very helpful folks! I'm always organised lol so I like to make sure everything is set haha, habbit of mine, when me and my mate flew back from Bangkok in November just gone he and I met on the mid-connecting flight and were sat next to each other despite checking in hours apart, so in theory you guys would be right, I'd just make sure we are there super early to secure seats close together! I already e-mailed Thai Airways however before these replies so I can double check.

      Thanks again!

I'm glad you figured it out.

What we do is that one of us would book both tickets with one booking reference, and then the other pays back the ticket price. And then one of us will do the online check-in and pick whatever seats are free so we can be next to each other.

So what your saying is book both flights the same time (I'm paying for both flights anyway), I'm not sure if it's possible to book 2 different flights the same time with 3rd party sites? I'll look into it anyway, thanks for the info!

I don't think that it will work for you, because you aren't flying together for the whole trip. I have had to do separate bookings in the past when I was trying to do this.

Yeah, my bad, I misunderstood the situation.
