    Long trips

Hey guys! I just wanted to ask you guys how long trips go for you. I'm just curious. I spent 2 months (1 week, 6 weeks, 1 week) total last year in Brazil and I'm spending May 18th to July 10th in Brazil this year. It's (hopefully) our last visit before closing the distance. Last year I spent June 30th until August 14th in Brazil and I got used to it and it was really hard to come back to the USA. I loved it though and I'm excited for this trip. I work online as a teacher and my fire department is awesome about letting me travel, so I'm all set

Who else does long trips like this?

Our first visit was our shortest, at 2 weeks, and then we had a month visit, a 3 1/2 month visit, and a almost 2 month visit. We are an international couple too so it makes more sense.. also because direct return flights run from Vancouver to Manchester only during May to October so we have been doing summer visits (except our first visit when I flew into London Gatwick.. lol but it was worth it)

I love long visits, because they help give me a feel for how it will be like to live with him in his country.. though they are so hard to come back from. Though I think any visit is. But I love longer visits with my boyfriend because obviously I can spend more time with him together and experience living together more. Though they do require you to have more money saved up ahead of time usually and taking more time off work or going during holidays from school.

Shortest visit we had was five days, which was the first one, longest was just over three months last summer. I estimate our visits in avarage have been just over two weeks at a time. We have now kind of temporarily closed the distance until uni starts for us in September -15 though we will be apart all of June due to exams and changed plans... Still, it's only a month

We've had... 8 visits? Maybe. Him = him visiting me. Me = me visiting him.

Being international means we made sure we could have long visits, since the flights cost so much and it's a lot of work just to make it happen in the first place. We were visiting in between university semesters in the beginning.

        Him: 2 1/2 months. June - August 2006
        Me: 3 months. Nov 2006 - Feb 2007
        Him: 3 months. May - August 2007
        Me: 3 months. Nov 2007 - Feb 2008
        Him: 3 months. May - August 2008
        Me: 6 months. July 2009 - Jan 2010
        Me: 6 months. July 2011 - Jan 2012
        Him: 1 year. Oct 2012 - Oct 2013

My first visit went for about 3 weeks, then my next two visits went for about 3 months each. My last visit went for about 7 months because I did study exchange in Europe.

I'll probably have to wait a year to see my GF again but we're hoping to make this visit go for at least 6 months (and maybe a year if things pan out in our favour).

These threads are depressing to me

The longest visit we've had was 17 days. We try to keep an average of 14 days for visits but many times I can't stay longer than 10 or 11 days. The shortest stay we've had was 5 days, but I wasn't visiting him in Finland. Just meeting up in a neutral country.

I am severely restricted by my job in how many leave days I can take, so that's the major reason.

Admittedly I have been very lucky with my work. I never had enough leave days for those trips, I simply said "I'm going to be away for three/six months to visit my fiance" and they just kinda had to be ok with it. Which was more than they needed to do. The last time I came back I had trouble returning to work because all of the management had changed while I was away. So nobody knew who I was and they weren't sure they wanted to take me back on, even though I was still in the system. Fortunately, when one of the coordinators got changed again and she heard my name and wondered who I was she wanted to catch up with me to find out when I was available. So it worked out, but it took 5 months and I hadn't been able to get another job in between.

We are usually doing two short visits, about two weeks long, and one long visit, three months long, every year. Our plans are getting bit complicated but still hope to close the distance in summer, so no more planning and saving money for tickets Looking forward to that

Iw ish we could be together that long. Our longest visits were 9days. Mucus ally it's four days, sometimes just the weekend. We both have to work and I have three children. fortunately, we are together at least once a month, so I guess that makes up for it.

I love him. Forever. And every day after that.

Our first and only visit so far was 6 weeks - bit of a scary prospect for the first meeting and my first trip overseas, but with the price of the tickets we wanted to make it worth it. Not to mention I was determined on having a white Christmas (that I still didn't get, but I won't start on that... ) So spending Christmas, New Years and his birthday together in that 6 weeks was very special. Loved every minute and don't know how I could've done away with anything less. I've found it hard since coming home though and I'm still trying to get back into my daily routine. That said, I have no studies or job to go back to, and my SO has been busy studying, so I've been having to keep myself occupied and motivated. I've been working on a photobook which has been a nice distraction while bringing up great memories.

The longest visit we had was 7 days. Unless you count the 6 months he came to the USA which I count more as a "move" than a "visit".

I wont be able to take any long visits. This is my second visit to him after we met on holiday, both long weekends. I will thankfully be able to shift around work hours a bit so I can continue to do long weekends. That is important because it takes at least half a day in flights each way. I will see him every four to eight weeks. In Easter I want to make it as long as possable, at least for 5-6 days. The place I work will shut down anyway. We all have holiday at the same time. Same in summer (July) where I want to go for three weeks. I am lucky this visit because he is in between school and work, so I get full days with him.

He can't visit me until season ends in November. I hope once he gets a visa for Norway he can stay for a month (depends on when he has military). That is the most I can afford. If he wants to come for longer than that, he will have to move here to study so he can work parttime and chip in on the costs.

I made love to him only twice, she thought and looked at the man laying asleep beside her. And yet still it is as if we have been together forever, as if he has always known my life, my soul, my body, my light, my pain

Shortest one we had was 3 days, when we first met. From there on it varied between 1-2 months, the longest one being 5,5 months when I went to see him

Our shortest visit was my most recent one. I visited him for about 3 weeks in Germany.
Our longest visit was about 6 weeks, when he came out to California to visit me.
On average, our visits last about 4 weeks. We visit each other during my winter and summer breaks from university, usually. We both have pretty flexible jobs, as well, so that makes visits a lot easier

We decided on visits twice a year, every 6 months. Visits last 3-4 days. I mean we both have FT jobs, and I have a daughter, so I really can't be gone for months at a time. And I don't want to spend all my vacation visiting him -- I'd like to take my daughter to visit family or go on our annual Disney cruise.
