Things you miss from your SO's country

For those of you who have traveled to your SO's country to visit them:
Besides obviously missing them, are there other things about their countries that you miss?

    For me, I miss the:
    *Breathtaking views
    *Beautiful, old buildings
*Fresh, cool air rolling right off the sea
    *Tea
    *Whiskey
    *Beer
    *Shortbread
    *Teacakes
    *Haggis

I can get some of those things here, but it's just not the same.

    - The weather in the summer (It's 32°C here, while it's 12°C and raining over there, and I'd much rather have the rain)

    - Rye bread for breakfast.

    - Fazer chocolate (better than Lindt or Milka)

    - The fact that wherever you are, you are always standing on the edge of a wooded area.

I'm sure I can think of other things later.

I miss (but will have in a couple of days):
Good, dark chocolate with all sorts of flavours
        The tapes style Turkish breakfast
        The sun and heat
        Turkish tea and Coffee
        The beach
Most things at just half price or less
Actually, people being social towards strangers (I used to dislike it)
        The impulsive way of thinking
        The blue mountains
        Our flat, especially the veranda.
        The early night sounds
        Kittens to feed
        The markeds

I made love to him only twice, she thought and looked at the man laying asleep beside her. And yet still it is as if we have been together forever, as if he has always known my life, my soul, my body, my light, my pain

Yep, they're so good and it's such a faff to make them from scratch. I don't know why I can't get them in the UK.

Although I much prefer cinnamon buns from the German bakeries, I have to admit that Pillsbury cinnamon buns from the can are pretty awesome!

I made them from scratch exactly once.. Yeast? Dough has to rise overnight? Nobody got time for that!

When I lived in the Wales they seemed really particular about preservatives.. maybe that's why?
It was very hit or miss getting care packages of food items from home. I'd get something through while a flatmate would get the same thing confiscated at customs.

Oh I miss the weather too! It's about 30 degrees here and what I wouldn't do to trade it for cooler, rainy weather.

What are Kinderschokolade and Kaufland? The beer there must be incredible! The city I live in has a very German background (we have one of the largest Oktoberfests in the world, second to the one in Munich) so I really appreciate true German beer.

They don't have take out alcohol in Canada? How do you live?! (same question applies for fried chicken!) Southern food is delicious. I haven't been to New Orleans, but visiting there during Mardi Gras is definitely on my bucket list!

This whole conversation gave me a good laugh! I can't believe they don't have something similar to Pillsbury in the UK. You should write Pillsbury a strongly worded letter about that. If Kraft can reformulate their mac-n-cheese to be UK approved, Pillsbury can do the same.

I've toyed with making homemade cinnamon rolls many times, but every time I look at recipes, I can't be bothered. You're right silvermoonfairy. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Pillsbury does make mean cinnamon rolls, but I love Cinnabon's too.
