Right now me and my SO only have 1 hour time difference.
    Which is nothing actually.
When he lived in australia for half a year, we had an 8 hour time difference and he will go back to Aus in 2 months.
Right now he's really busy with his job and I need to study, so we send each other a few messages a day (if it were me, it would be more! Unfortunately he only had internetconnection in his bedroom and he's out and about for most of the day)
I only got back from visiting him for 2 weeks yesterday but before that we sent messages throughout the day. Sometimes more, sometimes just a few sentenes.
And we would skype 2-3 times a week (it used to be once a week, but I'm glad it's more now!)

When he was overseas, we'd always send goodmorning and goodnight messages. And other than that, we would just chat whenever we were both free.
Sometimes it was a lot, sometimes just a few messages and we would skype once a week because of school and work.
I hope that when he goes back to Aus, we keep up the 2-3 times skype a week.
Gonna have to start planning again.

Anyway, at least in Australia the internetconnection will be better and more stable.

My SO is in Aus and I'm in the UK - 10 hr time difference which usually means I'm not far away from going to bed as she's getting up but at least when I get up it's her early evening so I get a bit more time (at the moment due to being off work for the holidays). Once we get back to normal working hours, things will get a bit more difficult but at least we have weekends. We talk at least once every other day (or so) at the moment and hopefully once her internet is all set up (she's just moved) we'll facetime/skype more often.

I still send her messages via FB whilst she is sleeping so she knows I'm thinking of her and it also makes her feel like she's part of my day and she does the same. It's lovely to wake up to a message or two from her...Due to both being in the military there are times when we can't message each other or just get a good morning/good night message. Whilst not ideal we both understand each others commitments and we know we'll be in touch when we can...
