    That is true. I once told my mum I love her, when I a child - because I had heard you could say that - and her reply was "What do you want?" lol. My mum is very loving, I still sit on her lap even if I am 37 and all my family are big huggers - but we dont say I love you, no, never . We may say "I care for you", "I am fond of you".
