    Poems/songs written by you?

Just wondering if we have any creative writers on the forum, who like to write their own poems or songs to their SO's.
I have one that I wrote a while ago, it seems very fitting for this site because it talks about long distance a lot.

    Feel free to share yours!

    1702 KM from the Sun

"I'm so tired of sleeping and waiting for you to come back
It's worth it, but my body feel shaken from a mild heart attack (kind of an inside joke)
I never revolved myself around anything or anyone
But now you are my sun
Our lives are only at the beginning, have only just begun

Every night I see you and when I wake up, you go away
And every time you're around, I'm begging you to stay
A month or two feels like light years in my head
All I want in this whole world is you here in my bed

Infatuation may feel good, but we've got something on them
I'm not sure what it is, but it just feel so damn right
'Cause all I want in this whole world is you here with me tonight

Grow up, get a job, a house, a home
It doesn't matter what we do, as long as I'm not alone
Distance is just a number, some time until I can be with you
I'll could every day and kilometer, every slow ticking second too

Almost everything I once believed in has changed
You flipped me upside down, startled me and fixed my brain
With so long thinking I wasn't right
I'm so glad I can sit here and see you tonight"

Hahah, a little bit mushy and cheesy. :P

I don't title my poems, and they're not all too happy, but here's one attempt at something nice. I failed, I think. :P

    Your love,
Surrounding me like every whisper of the wind,
Spilling secrets that meet the sea,
and rolling up to a shore that holds promises as numerous as the grains of sand, silt, and shell.
Sands of time, wings of change, your love,
Soar through vapid veils, tendrils of cynicism,
    Beating on strengthened wings,
Veins electric with the passion of a lover’s first kiss,
Funnelling sunshine on a cloudy day,
    Surrounding me, me.
    Your love,
Surrounding me like grasses, foreign yet all too familiar,
    Vibrant, vitalised, revitalised,
Extend towards our dimpled cheeks and laughing mouths,
Brush our faces, our bodies, as hand in hand, we write new stories across the plain,
    Leaving footsteps in our wake,
    Yours next to mine, mine,
    and mine next to yours.
    Your love,
    Surrounding me like security personified,
    Like comfort has a name,
Like we live in a world where love and respect are happily married,
    Like happy endings exist,
Like they exist for me, me.
    Your love,
Surrounding me with all the promise of a future,
That I can’t wait for you to spend
    with me, me.

I've written many poems over the years, mostly in the first couple of years. I wish I still wrote more often, but I find that for writing I really need that spark of inspiration.

This is a song I wrote back in 2005 for my SO, we were only 'together' online at the time and our relationship was still pretty young and we actually hadn't talked too much about what being together online meant yet I don't think. So it was a pretty big deal to share this with him. One day I'm hoping I'll muster up the courage to actually sing it to him, as to this day, he's only read it and not heard it sung. He's probably forgotten about it by now though, lol.

As I lay in my bed
I try hard not to think
Of the things that you said
Which put me on the brink
        Of falling for you
        Knowing not what to do
'Cause you're all that I want
And it takes all my sleep

My soul longs for you now
        You're all that I need
So come rest with me, how-
Long must I wait to be in your embrace

Now you're here in my arms
        Nothing else that I need
Let's just stay here and share
        Our love as we sleep
        In each other's embrace
Side by side 'till we wake
        Let eternity come
We'll wake up when it ends

My soul longs for you now
        You're all that I need
So come rest with me, how-
Long must I wait to be in your embrace

        Turning inside out
        From thinking just of you
        Wanting just to shout
Of my love for you (love for you)
        I love you

My soul longs for you now
        You're all that I need
So come rest with me, how-
Long must I wait to be in your embrace

As I lay in my bed
I do all that I can
To be close to you now
I wrap you in my hands
        So that while I'm asleep
I can dream of you deep
As you're right by my side
        And you're holding me tight

My soul longs for you now
        You're all that I need
So come rest with me, how-
Long must I wait to be in your embrace

        Let eternity come
We'll wake up when it ends

(my soul) My soul longs for you now
        (you're all) You're all that I need
(So come) So come rest with me, how-
Long must I wait to be in your embrace

I wrote this for my SO about two months ago, then handwrote it on some really nice paper and mailed it to him. he taped it up next to his bed. <3

you were freckles, curls, and long lines,
nervous laughter, glances held too long.
you were warm fingers tangled under blankets,
simple honesty that caused static in my head.

you were bright eyes in a dark room,
          quickened breath and ringing silence.
a mouth searching, aching, claiming, desperate,
my shaky hand in your hair.

you were the nights when I was alone,
the warmth that grew between my legs.
          you were new, magical, electric,
I was small and terrified to fall.

now you are a sea of pale, gentle skin,
a smile that fuels my heartbeat.
you are hot breath in my ear, bones pressing against me,
          hard, wanting, waiting.

you are the summer breeze that lulls me to sleep,
the soft blanket that slides over my hips.
still the bright eyes in a dark room,
but no longer new, no longer desperate.

now you are a constant, a heavy weight of security,
your arms my home, your voice my comfort.
I am no longer scared, now that I’ve fallen,
you’re a yellow bird, my favorite book, a pulsing beat, a firefly.

you are my boy, my forever, my love.

I write several poems. I wrote one about being in a LDR & how it basically sucks seeing couples who are able to hold hands & be together on a daily basic.

It really helps to get out those bad feelings..
            sigpic
            Not to get clever
but with you I see forever
            But whatever it is,
            Here's to you,
            I Love You Kid...

Great! This is a very heartwarming message for the one you love. The words you stated are very honest. Truly, this captures your lover's heart since it's personally made. I also love to write poems for my significant other. Also, I wrote a love letter to him. In my own point of view, writing poems and letters to the one you love will never be outdated or out of season.

For our 6 month anniversary I wrote him a poem and decorated a picture frame with a picture in it from the last time we had seen each other. The poem is pretty cheesy but here it is:

There is a guy, he's cute and kind,
                sometimes I can't believe he's mine!
We talk and laugh and kiss and love,
he makes me feel like I never knew I could!
It's been six months and everyday, he says these things,
they always take my breath away!
It feels like magic and it feels like fate, I never knew love could be so great!

So that's it, pretty cheesy, but he said he really liked it.

My honey is an English major, so he writes me poetry, and I'm a singer so I wrote him songs ^.^ We also wrote the fairytale version of our story together (Called Heart's Song), but my favorite thing he ever wrote me was a Shakespearean sonnet!

When I think about that night,
as we watched the sun set,
                  and in the dying light,
                  the way our lips met,
                  I can't help but grin
as it plays in my head.
                  To know deep within,
                  the things left unsaid.
                  I knew in my heart,
though my eyes could not see,
                  that swift Cupid's dart
                  was lodged deep in me.
                  So now I beseech
                  my lady divine.
                  Though I said nothing then,
                  please be mine?

                  ^.^

My Girlfriend Is living in Hawaii. I'm in Colorado so we have an ocean between us. She's an island girl so I wrote this one night when I was feeling pretty lonely.

                    Kisses on my skin,
                    Feel like an ocean breeze,
                    Standing next to her,
                    She reaches out to me

                    Long are the nights,
                    Lonely are the days,
                    Let me share this love,
O' let me count the ways

                    She whispers to my ear,
                    Words like a melody,
                    Telling me to wait,
                    You can't rush destiny!

                    A flower in her hair,
Our hearts we pledge to share,
                    A kiss and I awaken,
I reach and she's not there.....

My S/O and I have been through a lot, we have both made mistakes and we have gone on breaks but no matter what God always brings us back together. He is in bootcamp right now for the Navy and he likes when I write him little rhymes although I am nooo good at it. Here is the latest

You be my captain, I'll be your firstmate
everyday with you, feels like the first date
                      BUTTERFLIES & NERVOUS
no matter what, my love for you will always resurface
sometimes its like we do this on purpose
I've never felt like this for someone
So I am here to say I'm done.
                      I'm done playing games
                      I'm done hiding things
When I look you face to face
I know my heart is in the right place
                      So come one Captain,
                      pave the way
                      for better or for worse,
I AM HERE TO STAY <3

                        First things first:
KYLIE, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, STOP RIGHT HERE, OR YOUR CHRISTMAS GIFT WILL BE TOTALLY SPOLED!!!

Okay, now, let's see, where was I? Yes! I have taken this creative writing idea a little further. I'm writing her a short story that includes the two of us meeting in a shared dream. (Potterheads as we are, this takes place in the Hogwarts grounds xD) I'm the one dreaming, and I'm totaly aware of dreaming, but she is disoriented and have no idea what's going on, until she hears me playing a song on my guitar about us and our relationship, a song which I'm also writing and recording for real and will include on a CD that I'm also sending her for christmas.

I will print this story out and bind it in a small paperback before sending it. As she have studied creative writing and is aspiring to be an author and I'm hoping to some day be able to live on making music, I feel that these gifts are a perfect way to combine both of us and the thing that brough us together: Music representing me, writing her and the shared passion for Harry Potter being the magnet that initially pulled us together.

I would post a Google Docs link of I could, but I can't, so you'll just have to believe me when I say it's great.

(Kylie, if you read this post I will be very disappointed in you. I really want this to be a surprise, because I just know you'll love it).

This is a poem I wrote a few months ago. It is called "Starry Colorado Nights"

That summer had long days and even longer nights. Riding next to you in the middle seat of your white Ford pick up truck. You knew I was a sucker for cowboys like you. Midnight fishing and long times kissing. Talking for hours about anything that came to our minds. Country music blaring from the speakers, singing at the top of our lungs. We just couldn't help but fall in love. Passion erupting one starry Colorado night. Two months of complete happiness, spending all our time together. But summers must come to an end. It's fall now and I've moved away, but every single day I go back to those starry Colorado nights spent with you.

I'm not very good at writing poems (in my own opinion), I much prefer to write short stories, and it was a little through them that my SO and I got closer to eachtoher. I like to draw too, and paint, so two of my paintings is hanging in his room now
