I wrote this when I was especially feeling the need for him to be near me and I let him read it later and he liked it.

    So Alone

    Surrounded by people
    And how can it be
    That I feel so alone
Cause you’re not here with me

When I see ‘him and her’
    So tenderly together
It’s not him that I want
    But you here forever

    Up until now
    My life’s felt complete
    Just me on my own
    No visions to meet

    Sure there have been others
    But those were just fakes
I know this love is real
Put my heart on the brakes

    And this morning in church
    When we’d barely begun
    Beside me was empty
    Your part left unsung

    When the pastor said, “Ladies!
    Your turn, loud and fair!”
But when it came to the men
    Your voice was not there

Why is it that they can have
    Their “him’s” at their sides
    Put up pictures on Facebook
Jump and laugh in the tides

    And then here I am
    Waiting oh so alone
    With nobody to hold me
Just a screen and a phone

    I pray when we’ll meet
    Will come ever so fast
So that we can be together
    Together at last…

I can't write poems to save my life... I'm way too long winded for poems... I could pull off short stories, but usually do novels... That being said, I would love to write poetry or short stories for my SO... When I'm not overwhelmed with deadlines for my other stuff, maybe I will!

My SO wrote this about how much his love is for me
It is brighter than the brightest star, more soft than the choicest of silks, but stronger than the irons that hold the bridges steadfast, it points to you as a compass to true north, keeps me warm on the chilliest of nights, more pure than the gold in the crowns of queens and kings, more beautiful than the northern lights, it rises like a song from the deep till it soars with the eagles, as the hawk watches it's prey so does my love watch over you.

          I love writing songs/poetry

Both my SO & I write poetry. We wrote 7 poems together in the past. We would alternate who would write the first & 2nd halves of the poem. I will share one he wrote me & my favorite of the 7 we wrote together!

          Passion to Wait

(Chris wrote the first half, and I wrote the second half (after the "..."))

I saw the most beautiful sunset in the distance:

It's one of the most amazing beauties in existence.

          I think about watching it with you sitting beside me;

Experiencing something that awing makes me feel free.

Your gorgeous eyes were lit from the glistening light,

And my passion felt intense enough to take flight.

While at loss for words, I heard your soul speak.

Your soul was connected with mine as it started to leak.

What the passion came of that day,

Is something I'd like you to say...

Sitting here beside you watching the sunlight hit your face,

I never thought this day would take place.

          I look deep into your eyes and see your longing for me inside;

          It's a feeling you can't hide.

          I can read your mind, you want to kiss me, you can't deny;

I want you to, but I can't comply.

I'm saving this kiss for a moment in time,

Even though I wish you were mine.

          Love takes precious energy and time;

It will rise at it's own pace.

Let's trust in God, He'll bless it with grace.

The Saving Grace (Chris wrote this for me)

For a while all I saw was the gloomy rain.

All I could think about was my morbid pain.

I didn't know where I could run or hide.

There was so much distress that I cried.

I felt the effects from my personal anguish.

My life went downhill and started to languish.

          But then something amazing started to take place;

It was special and filled with so much grace.

You're like an angel sent to me from the heaven above.

Someone to show me how to open my heart and love.

I'm thankful that you've been such an amazing inspiration.

You've made me want to put my life in proper formation.

A song I wrote that is about my SO

            Always You

Verse 1: It all started with written letters, poems and a heartfelt prayer
That God would open the floodgates
And lead my soulmate to me
Still not knowing when or how
But I wanted God to know my deepest desire now

Chorus: I knew, it was always you
            Right from the start
            Always you
Who had the key to my heart
            Always you
I pinch myself to see if this is real
            Always you
Who knew me and cared about how I felt

            Verse 2: You've got mail
One song I loved to hear
            Echoing in my ears
As I read your words, they subsided in my soul
Just like a melody and harmony colliding...

Chorus: I knew, it was always you
            Right from the start
            Always you
Who had the key to my heart
            Always you
I pinch myself to see if this is real
            Always you
Who knew me and cared about how I felt

Bridge: What connected us was we aspired to do
Write lyrics about our faith that truly inspire us and others
God knew when and how our love story would transpire
And when He would grant us our heart's desire

Outro: I knew, it was always you
            Right from the start
            Always you
Who had the key to my heart
            Always you
I pinch myself to see if this is real
            Always you
Who knew me and cared about how I felt

I love you to the moon and back

All of these poems are so sweet! I especially like your idea Inspirement, I bet she loved it. It sounds perfect For my SO's birthday I wrote him a song called "I Love You To The Moon And Back," if anyone is interested there's a fairly basic recording of it on youtube I recorded it properly for his birthday though, and drew a little album artwork to go with it.

(Damn that's a tasty still frame.)

I love you to the moon and back,
I'll love you 'till the stars go out
And we're trapped in the dark--
Which will prob'ly make me love you even more

Baby I love you more than Russell Brand loves hairspray
Baby, I love you more than Santa loves his christmas sleigh

The world is mine, it's on a string
I feel we could have everything
              When I'm holding your hand,
I've never felt this way before

And when the sun goes down, your arms will be my daylight
When we're just lying here, I'd love to live and endless night

I could really use a hug right now, I'm feeling quite unsteady
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I'm fond enough already

Each time I'm in your company
              I feel the electricity,
'Coz you light up the room,
And you make my heart feel glad

Baby, I love you like a drunkard loves his liquor
Baby, I love you like a snowman loves an endless winter

I could really use a hug right now, I'm feeling quite unsteady
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I'm fond enough already

I'm in love, with a guy who makes my head spin
Not because of my low blood pressure, or anything
Just in love, with a guy who makes my head spin
Not because of my low blood pressure, or anything

Ohh, I love you to the moon and back
I'll love you 'till the stars go out
And we're trapped in the dark--
Which will prob'ly make me love you even more

Baby I love you more than chocolate ice cream sundaes,
Baby I love you more than Garfield hates his early Mondays

I love you to the moon and back

This was something from High School, but it still applies.

Somewhere there is someone who loves you.
You may not always realize it, but there is.
You may not always believe it, but there is.

                Someone out there loves you.

You may think it is a passing interest.
You may think it is a passing crush.
                you think it is lust,
                or fantasy.
You may think anything and everything but the truth:
                Someone out there loves you.

Your heart cannot know the joy that you bring to this love.
Your heart cannot know how happy you make another soul.
You cannot possibly fathom how deep the love is for you…
                But it is there.

Across miles, across the depths of time, another soul aches for you.
You are always on their mind,
You are always in their heart,
You are always the first thought of the day and the last of the night.

When you are gone, you are missed,
not missed like one misses a sunny day,
or the sound of a favorite tune,
but missed with a longing so deep that your absence,
                however short,
that it causes your love to pine for you,
                consuming them,
preventing them from thinking anything else but the moment you return.

                Someone out there loves you.
They long to be with you,
                hold you,
                caress you,
kiss you tenderly on your lips.
They long to take you in their arms,
                pull you close,
                and never let you go.

                Someone out there loves you.

Their love for you burns like fires unknown,
like the fire of a newly born star,
or one which is about to end it’s life in the most magnificent display in the heavens.

                This fire burns eternally,
not to be snuffed by time,
                by fate,
                by accident or mistake,
this fire burns on a wick that runs deep,
on fuel that grows more potent with each day,
                causing the flames to grow,
                causing the love to swell,
causing the lover to spiral into the depths of passion over you!

Someone out there is in love with you!

And all they ask of you is the simplest requests:
to share that love with them.
