    Proposals!

Since I'm sure a lot of ladies have thought about their dream proposals, for those of us who aren't engaged, are there things you definitely want your SO to do? Or things that you definitely don't want him to do?

Guys, should you come out of the woodwork, haha, have you thought about how you want to propose? Care to share?

Or, if you're already engaged/married, share your proposal story (again!). I figure it's probably fun to retell every once in a while, so why not?

He didn't propose to me, it was more like a "let's do this" type of engagement, so unfortunately I don't have any romantic story to share. But I'd love to read stories!

I'd love it if my SO went with tradition and got down on one knee, I think that's so sweet. Also, it's a bit of a dream of mine to be proposed to somewhere high up, like the top of a hill. One thing I wouldn't like is if my SO proposed in front of a crowd; around passers by would be fine, but I'd be so embarrassed if it happened before a large number of people! At the end of the day though, the details don't really matter. If my guy asked me to marry him at all I'd be delighted - even if he decided to stick the ring in the top of an ice cream cone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlJ01M_7IQM Ever seen the Fancy Feast proposal commercial/short film? That would honestly be a dream proposal for me. It's adorable.

But if not with a kitten, then definitely somewhere along the coast, I think, or anywhere in nature really, but I definitely feel deeply connected to and at home/one with the sea, so somewhere overlooking the ocean, if not on the beach itself, would be ideal. I would also like it to be private, I think, more than I would like it to be, say, surrounded by a crowd of people at a busy restaurant. I'm not entirely too picky though.

As far as what I definitely don't want him to do? xD https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=jTgvLN4FVBA Ever see the spiderman proposal? Yeah, he's decided it's awesome but as someone who hasn't even seen Spiderman, I'm like, "erm, no. "

I hadn't seen him for 6 months, and the day after I arrived, we went and got CityQ, which has my favorite pulled pork sandwiches, and went to the botanical gardens for a picnic. Then we went for a walk in the gardens, and it was so pretty out, I went over to investigate one of the gazebos... well he grabbed me and hugged me for ages, then pulled away, got down on one knee and proposed with tears in his eyes! Then we kissed and hugged for the longest time It was perfect proposal Simple and beautiful! Then later on he "asked" me again, because both of us were so overwhelmed we couldn't remember if he had actually asked or not

I do too. I don't care that we're international and that makes moving pets hard. Maybe he'll fly over just to take me to the animal shelter and we'll play with kittens and there ya go! Haha. It's fun to dream, anyway.

I think we had a thread like this?
Anyway I don't want any ring in champagne or dessert adventures and nothing where we can't see each other (like this famous one).

I've told my boyfriend he needs to get down on one knee and have a ring, otherwise I'm not going to take it seriously. I don't really care where/when, although at home between brushing teeth and going to bed would be a bit of an anti-climax.
Maybe somewhere on a trip. I like going places with him and it always makes me feel so close to him and it would be nice to have it at a memorable or romantic place. More memorable and romantic than our sofa or floor anyway.

He says he's going to surprise me and do it when I least expect it. I don't doubt that he's going to surprise me, but I'm going to expect it anytime from after this summer, so not much of a chance there

I'd hate to be proposed to in public. That's my worst nightmare. Fortunately, she feels the same way.

My ideal, probably never going to happen, proposal is to be proposed to at this firework concert that happens each year in Edinburgh. Basically, they set fireworks to classical music. It's really amazing.

I'd love for him to get down on one knee. That's all i'm asking for. However, pretty sure no matter how he asks me, I'll be the happiest girl in the world!

I searched for one, just in case, but I couldn't find one.

I realized that I didn't say what I want/don't want, haha! I've told my SO the only things I want are for a) him to get my dad's blessing (which won't be hard, my parents love him.) b) have a ring, c) get down on one knee and actually ask the question, "Will you marry me?" I have heard about a lot of proposals where the guy says something like "Will you be my wife"/I want to spend the rest of my life with you/etc. He can say all of those things, as long as he actually asks me to marry him.

Oh, and the one thing I don't want to happen is have my family/his family there right after. I want to be able to celebrate with him. If we want to celebrate with our families with dinner or something, fine. Just... later. Once I have composed myself. Since I know I will be crying. ()

                        Here's our story!

I arrived in London at 11:30 am on September 21, 2011. It had been been a little over 5 months since Tim and I had been together and we eagerly greeted each other at Heathrow Airport.

The following morning, we set off for Paris. And since we couldn't check in to the hotel there until 2:00 pm, that meant we had 6 long hours to kill. But the day was crisp, sunny and beautiful, why not take a stroll around the most romantic city in the world?

We'd given up on trying to figure out the metro system so we (or rather I) decided to walk to one of the most famous sites in Paris, Pere Lachaise Cemetery. Having a fondness for cemeteries, I was ecstatic and eager to visit the Paris treasure and ultimately, to visit the graves of two of my favorite icons, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde.

Two hours later, on foot, we arrived at the cemetery; tired, sore and sick (well rather, Tim was feeling under the weather unfortunately).

Having just seen Morrison's tomb, we walked on to our next destination, Oscar Wilde's resting place. But having already walked for miles, we decided to take a break on one of the many benches the cemetery offered. And that's when Tim got down on one knee in front of me, took out a small velvet box and popped the question. He said he hadn't really planned on proposing in a cemetery but because I felt it was such a romantic place, he decided to anyway.

Tim slid the ring on my finger and I of course said, "yes".

I wanted a unique proposal and well, I definitely got one. How many brides can say they were proposed to at a cemetery? In close proximity to countless late legends no less?

Tim filmed a bit afterwards that I put into a short film here (I posted this in the main thread but if you want to take a look anyway):

                        Met: November 19, 2010

I had been talking about how I would love to get married young, and he agreed. So at my junior prom we were walking around together, and when no one was around he got down on one knee and showed me a beautiful ring that he had gone to get me. I was ecstatic and said yes, and we hugged afterward and I cried xD It hasn't been easy because many people think we're too young, but we're happy with our decisions, feel that we are indeed ready and mature enough, and that's all that matters! Planning to get married around 2014-2015, college permitting.

                            well,

basically I asked him to marry me on the first day we got together. It was meant for fun, but we suddenly realised it's a hell of a good idea for the future.

I don't want to wear a ring.... I want a tattoo on my body and he found that idea ridiculous in the beginning but now he thinks that is a good idea too.

we don't have a set date.... we want it to happen as spontaneous as possible.... within one year or three years or who knows.... the promise of a legal union is exiting enough for the moment and we both agree it might as well will never happen... but that's okay.
I never wanted to marry anybody.... till I found him and he is really the only one I ever want to marry.... but no rush....

I am happy he let's me decide. he has been married before and he is not in a rush either.

hahaha.... as I am typing this, I am beginning to wonder what it would be like the day one of us is REALLY seriously proposing the other.
The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

I definitely want to be asked. Does not have to be like on one knee or anything, but the last time I got married it was just like one of those things that was just assumed and was kind of a let down.
