I'm not using one, no point. Im thinking about decorating little jars that used to be dorito dip jars! I have been saving loads of them, so its an idea. Could just scatter some kind of confetti down each side? You should check out pinteret, has quite a lot of ideas

I can't do loose petals, confetti, glitter, etc in the church. I've considered tulle & christmas lights... but then, what about trip hazards on the cords? (gaffe tape. I'm sure Nix would love it if we used gaffe tape for something, the theater dork...) but then... where would we plug them in? I'm fairly certain there are no floor boxes, only wall outlets.
lademoiselle - that's my problem. I'm not 100% sure I want one. I mean, I think I do, but then, I have no idea. What if it rips when someone else is walking down it? What if someone trips on it? What if it bunches up and doesn't look good?

since you aren't decorating the church, and it seems like you feel something is missing, i really like Lucybelle's idea of flower petals or confetti that guests or a flower girl set before your path.
And if it's not a significant amount you would miss and it makes you happy then why not go for an aisle runner A simple white one will contrast well with the carpeting and the color of the chairs.
and here's an alternative to pew bows:

oh, ioanna, I like the lanterns. Hmm.
And yea, I'm a little concerned that if I don't have any decorations at all, people won't feel like they're walking into a chapel to watch us get married. Silly, I know, since there will be the programs and guest book and things, but... I dunno.

I like the lanterns too! I think you (or we? haha) could brainstorm up some interesting simple decoration ideas that will make it feel more wedding-y!
When I google image search "aisle runners", I find that some look classy but many of them look cheesy, imo.
...hmmm I'll be thinking of more pew bow alternatives

oh wow i like the tulle!
edit - realise you were talking about the runner.. but I love the tulle with it or even the tulle on its own! would be such a nice contrast to the dark carpet too (the runner and tulle)Met Online: February 2009

Meh, I mean I like it, but, meh.
Maybe you could do the lanterns or christmas balls in your colors? (why am I thinking about Christmas so hard?) Or those cool stringy lanterns you makes with a balloon and then pop the balloon?
I still think Christmas lights would be possible. Just tape down the stuff and get an extension cord to the wall?

I'm not a big fan of the tulle, reminds me too much of the pew bows.
Well, we're most likely going to have paper lanterns hung from the ceiling at the reception. If people are careful when they take them off the chairs, we could just reuse those at the reception venue... We're going to get white lanterns, though, not teal. I think we'll end up with some teal lighting at the ceremony, the church has the capability of doing that for us. Hmmmmm..... So many options! lol
