I just sent you an e-email.

My SO and I got married this year, after we closed the distance for good (hopefully!). We didn't technically have to get married, because since we're both from EU countries we didn't have any visa issues. However, being married to a German citizen entitled my SO to financial aid (and he can also be on my health insurance. so we only have to pay for one). He would probably have been able to get by without the aid, but it does make his life a lot easier.
We had originally planned to get married once we both finish university, which *knocks on wood* should be in 2 -3 years. But we figured that if my country is going to pay us, we can just as well get married now and take the free money.

Marriage as such is not that important to me. We were committed before and we are committed now. It didn't change how we feel about each other and everything that the paper we signed now legally obliges us to do, we would have been willing to do before.

If anyone who hasn't answered the first set of questions could please do so tomorrow night at the latest, I can start analyzing them and think about the follow-up questions. I have to hand in a first report on Monday so I really need some data to work with on the weekend. Luckily I already have some very interesting replies, I think it will be a good paper!

Marriage came up recently so it's out there for us. We have some complications with that; if those were resolved, we'd be planning a wedding right now. So not sure if we qualify.
